Sign-in methods and passwordless accounts

TL;DR

You can sign in with an email address and password, with "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Apple" (no password needed), or with a device-bound passwordless account. One email address can register only one account, and a passwordless account counts as a separate account. Facebook sign-in has been discontinued.

Answer

Gan Jing World supports several sign-in methods: registering with an email address (which requires creating a password), signing in with a Google or Apple account (no password or verification code needed), and a passwordless account that lives on a single computer. Each email address can register only one account, and the passwordless option is treated as its own separate account. To switch between accounts, sign out from your profile menu and sign back in with the method for the other account.

Ways to sign in#

  • Email address: register with your email and create a password. A verification code entered on the sign-up page completes the registration.
  • Continue with Google: sign in with your Google account — no verification code or password setup required.
  • Continue with Apple: sign in with your Apple ID — no verification code or password setup required.
  • Passwordless account: a device-bound account that requires no password (see below).
  • Facebook sign-in has been discontinued and is no longer available.

Passwordless accounts#

If you have registered a passwordless account, sign in by clicking the "Sign in" button at the top-left of the homepage, then clicking the name you created previously. Reinstalling your browser will not delete your passwordless account.

Info

One computer corresponds to one passwordless account, and a passwordless account cannot be signed in to on other computers or mobile devices. Accounts registered with an email, Google, or Apple account can be used across different computers and devices.

One email, one account#

The system currently allows one email address to register one account only. A passwordless account is treated as a separate, different account.

Switching between accounts#

To switch accounts, click your profile picture in the upper-right corner of the screen and select "Sign out" (the last option in the list). Then click "Sign in" and choose the sign-in option for the account you want to use — for example the passwordless option, or one of the other login methods.

If you used to sign in with Facebook#

Signing in with a Facebook account has been discontinued. Try signing in with your Facebook account's email address: click "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page, set a new password, and use it to access your original Gan Jing World account.
