This year, Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on Russia, using long-range missiles and drone swarms against military industries and energy facilities. Kyiv has also increasingly targeted the massive Wildberries warehouses, destroying billions of dollars' worth of goods belonging to the Russian e-commerce giant, according to The Washington Post .
"These attacks reminded the Russian public of the war almost four and a half years after Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The scale of the attacks also forced the Russian armed forces to expand their air defense coverage, disrupted airport operations, caused fuel shortages, and undermined morale in Russia," the article analyzes.
In particular, Yevhen Karas, commander of the 413th Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces "Raid," stated that his unit also participated in the strike on the Wildberries warehouse, which is located approximately 45 kilometers south of Moscow, as part of one of Ukraine's largest attacks on Russia to date. "Ukraine must punish the Kremlin if we want to achieve a stable and lasting peace, a normal peace. The more losses they suffer, the faster they will make peace," the military officer emphasized.
Karas believes the impact of Ukrainian attacks on the Russian economy is helping ordinary Russians understand the cost of war. He also hopes this will force Moscow to return to the negotiating table after months of US-mediated talks between the two sides reached a deadlock.
According to the commander, at this stage of the war, Moscow should fear the sky.
"Muscovites should spend their nights in their wonderful metro, just as Kyiv residents hid underground for years to avoid Russian missile and drone attacks," the lawyer added. Earlier, Vadim Kushnikov, a columnist for the "Military" portal, stated that Ukraine would be able to strike Russia's strategic targets with its ballistic missiles. He added that such weapons could target military-industrial complex facilities, specifically logistics hubs and complexes within Russia's fuel and energy sector. "These are military-industrial complex enterprises, logistics hubs, and fuel and energy sector facilities that directly supply fuel to the troop contingent the Russians have deployed against Ukraine. These are among the priority goals and objectives that can be achieved. If we're talking about a quantity that would be deemed excessive for such missions, and we manage to create a certain operational reserve for these assets, then they could already be used within the framework of the newly coined term 'counterballistic operations,'" the expert explained.
According to him, when it comes to countering ballistic missiles, it can be noted that it is possible to destroy them with less expensive means. However, this requires greater efforts from both the Ukrainian military and the defense industry, which is working to increase the range and the ability to accurately hit targets in the Russian Federation, where the enemy has deployed the densest concentration of electronic warfare and air defense assets.
