Crews battle fire at office supply warehouse in Somerset County

Nick, you're right. We did just get to the scene. We're on Schoolhouse Road and Clark Street right at that intersection. It's a large warehouse. And the information I picked up so far is that it's two businesses within that warehouse. Now, what portion is up in flames? I'm not sure. We're seeing some smoke, what appears to be smoke just above the building. And you have firefighters on each side of this very large building. As a matter of fact, Some firefighters are walking from one side to the other, but this is a major response as far as personnel goes, and I'm sure many neighboring towns are here assisting Franklin Township as well. We have no information on who, if anyone was inside during the overnight hours when this fire began. We don't know if anybody came in early. We don't know exactly what is inside the warehouse at this time. We're trying to gather more information from Franklin Township police. Concerning the materials that are inside this warehouse, you're always concerned that if it's some sort of paper products or anything flammable in a warehouse this large, that could take quite some time to bring under control. Obviously, we want to make sure nobody was inside when this fire began, but we're just piecing everything together right now. Now, if you travel through this area, there is a Dunkin Donuts here, a shopping center as well. It's obviously very busy. Many roads are blocked off. It took us a while to kind of circumvent the area to get to where we're standing now. But again, as we get more information, we'll pass it along. It's very busy with firefighters and first responders. But again, I'm told there are two businesses. I don't know the names of the businesses just yet, but I'm told there are two inside this very large warehouse and firefighters. Still trying, we believe, to bring some flames under control inside the warehouse. So a dangerous situation for them. We'll certainly keep you posted as we get more information from Franklin Township Police. That's the latest from Somerset County. We are live. Tony Caputo, News 12, New Jersey.
