Suffolk police to add patrols at Sachem East High School after stabbing
Nov 6, 2026
Erin Rich, Suffolk Police have confirmed
that they will have added patrols here at
Salem East High School this morning,
and it comes after a 15-year-old student was arrested,
accused of stabbing
a 16-year-old student here during dismissal yesterday. Police say
that the 16-year-old is expected to recover, but was seriously injured.
News 12 has seen video
of the incident. It's too disturbing to show on TV,
but in the video you can see one teen
fall to the ground. That teen picks up an object
and appears to stab the victim. As hundreds of
students are standing around watching
this violent fight unfold, the 15-year-old arrested
was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Probably scary, especially as a
parent, knowing that your child is not safe
in the place that they're supposed to be.
We've asked a representative for the school district
if they're considering adding metal detectors and the spokesperson
said they have no additional comments or information at this time.
We're in Farmingville, Suffolk County, Julia Rozier, News 12.
