This is Casey Anderson
and he's best friends with a grizzly bear named Brutus.
Now in today's day and age you'd probably think
these photos are fake but these are real photos
from the friendship between Casey Anderson and Brutus.
Casey Anderson developed a passion for
wildlife at a young age. Growing up in Montana,
he was surrounded by incredible animals and
developed a fascination for the natural world.
Eventually he turned that passion into a career
working with wildlife,
but one particular animal would completely change his life.
In 2002, Casey encountered a young grizzly bear cub named Brutus.
The cub had been born in captivity
and needed a home, so Casey decided to take him
in and raise him at Montana Grizzly Encounter,
which is a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing grizzly bears.
As Brutus grew, so did his
personality. He became a humongous grizzly bear weighing hundreds
of pounds, but Casey developed
a remarkable connection with him.
As the years passed, Bruce and Casey became incredibly well known
Brutus wasn't just a background animal in Casey's life,
he became a major part of his
work and public identity. The two appeared in television programs
and wildlife documentaries,
giving viewers a closer look at grizzly bears.
One of the most interesting things about Brutus
was his size. Grizzly bears are incredibly powerful animals,
and they have massive paws,
strong jaws, and incredible sense of smell.
Yet, Brutus also displayed behaviors that
reminded people that bears are individuals
with their own personalities.
Casey appeared in wildlife programming including
the series Expedition Wild where he introduced
audiences to animals from around the world.
Brutus also became famous through his appearances
alongside Casey. Casey Anderson
and Bruce had one of the most unusual relationships ever featured
in wildlife television.
