Russian-occupied Yalta city in south of Crimea was rocked by gunfire on the afternoon of August 7 as, according to eyewitnesses, sea drones targeted the city’s port. Local Telegram channel Crimean Wind reported that a large fire broke out near the waterfront following the shooting. Witnesses said no explosion was heard, suggesting the blaze may have been caused by Russian mobile fire groups engaging the incoming drones. Earlier, the Russian-installed occupation authorities warned residents about an attack involving uncrewed surface vessels and ordered an emergency evacuation of beaches and the embankment. Officials also announced what they described as a mine-clearing operation involving a sea drone near Primorsky Park, urging both residents and visitors to immediately leave the area. Videos and photos circulating on social media later showed a major fire burning in the port area. The incident follows overnight strikes on the Hvardiiske military airbase in temporarily occupied Crimea, where powerful explosions triggered large fires. Hours later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike and released a list of the successfully hit military targets.
