A Russian drone strike targeted the railway station in the city of Lozova in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, on August 6, killing two men and injuring eight others, including railway employees. According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov and Ukrainian Railways, Ukrzaliznytsia, five men and three women were wounded, with several victims reported to be in serious condition. Emergency responders and medical teams are working at the scene. Several videos shared on social media capture the moment of the attack on the railway station. The footage shows the drone strike being followed by a powerful explosion, with thick plumes of smoke rising above the area. Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi said the drone struck a railcar near the station building. Two of those killed and three of the injured were railway workers. Despite the station, located close to the frontline, being equipped with three bomb shelters, the attack still resulted in fatalities. The strike also damaged the station building, overhead power lines, and rolling stock. Train services to and from Lozova have been temporarily suspended, while passengers traveling to the station have been advised to monitor individual notifications in the railway’s mobile application. Ukrzaliznytsia stated that a heightened danger alert had been issued before the attack and staff and passengers were instructed to take shelter. The company said a detailed investigation is underway to determine what prevented the victims from being saved. Earlier on August 6, Russian forces also struck Balakliia in the Kharkiv region, killing three people.
