Russian Navy Day ended in disgrace. Putin arrived at the Admiralty in St. Petersburg, where he was met by an honor guard. Afterward, Putin presented state awards to Navy personnel, addressed them, and spoke with them. Instead of a parade, there was an honor guard in the building's courtyard.
A video has surfaced online of drunken Russians celebrating Navy Day by swimming in a fountain. The video has garnered many ironic comments:

Recall, Putin's aide, Nikolai Patrushev, stated that he sees no point in continuing to hold large parades on Russian Navy Day. They were first held in 2017 by decision of Vladimir Putin, who explained it as a revival of tradition.
"You know, I was born here [in St. Petersburg], and I've always gone to the Neva to watch the ships. My father is a naval officer, so it was interesting to me. There's no need to bring a large number of ships here, in my opinion. A limited number is sufficient. I hope there will be a [naval parade as part of Navy Day, but with a limited number of naval vessels]," Patrushev said. "If we're just focusing on parades, that's not quite right. Ships should be solving military problems," he was quoted as saying by the Agency . After the decision to hold the first Navy Parade in 2017, Putin declared it "not saber-rattling, but a revival of traditions": "We have decided to revive the Main Naval Parade, which will soon be held in St. Petersburg. I assure you, this is not saber-rattling; it is a restoration, a revival of traditions that are over 100 years old." In 2022, Putin also enshrined the Main Naval Parade in the Navy's Ship Regulations. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Russia has held the Navy Day parade twice in its usual format. In 2024, the number of ships participating in the parade was significantly reduced. And in 2025, the parade was discontinued altogether.
Last year, Putin called Navy Day a "beautiful" holiday. "But I think you'll agree with me that in today's circumstances, it's right that we celebrate this holiday in a combat-ready, working environment, with everyone on duty," the president said.
This year, as in the past, Putin visited the Admiralty for Navy Day, where he was greeted by an honor guard. Afterward, Putin presented state awards to Navy personnel, addressed them, and spoke with them.
Since Putin arrived at the Admiralty a few hours later this year than last, his program on Navy Day will likely be significantly more modest than it was then.
