Well, trick-or-treating is a little trickier tonight
with all this rain and lightning
forcing many families to get an early start
in a rush to beat the raindrops.
Andrew Christensen is live with an update tonight. Hi there, Andrew.
Hey, Brian. Happy Halloween and happy Halloween to everybody else.
I'm not sure if this rain is a trick or a treat, but all I know is I
am dressed as a very, very wet news reporter for Halloween today.
It is coming down steadily.
Okay, not exactly a costume, but there are some cool costumes out here.
There are some stragglers, but earlier today there were a lot
more people, but neighbors actually tell me they had to cancel
a Halloween event yesterday because of the rain, and they're telling me
that there's just not as many kids trick-or-treating this year.
It's usually a busy Halloween in the Encanto
and Palmcroft neighborhoods with neighbors saying
thousands of kids are usually trick-or-treating.
They start early and then they just keep coming
and coming and coming. Last year,
Tamara Zivick says she bought 4,000 pieces of candy and ran out.
It was not enough, so we all combined.
This year with the rain, she says things could be different.
A lot of us are probably going to have a lot left over.
Yesterday, she says their neighborhood event already got rained out.
Our neighborhood kids got rained out
for the Halloween crawl last night.
So we all agreed to come out
a little bit earlier before they got rained out again today.
While there might be some spooky spirits out there,
the rain not dampening any spirits.
Our witch is here, they're gonna make sure
that we're gonna have a good time, they're
gonna keep the rain away.
So come on out, enjoy Halloween, trick or treat.
Over in the neighborhood on Indian School and 7th Avenue,
some neighbors seeing less kids.
There's not as much excitement as there has been other years.
And while kids are getting rained on.
Getting soaked. Wear your socks and your shoes.
It's still a frightfully good time for others.
I think there's still a lot of kids
that still have that Halloween spirit.
So that's good.
Okay, I'm not sure if this is planned,
but I'm seeing a lot of kids dressed with raincoats as their costume.
They're dressed as Coraline, the kid from It with a Raincoat.
So that was actually very smart of them.
Not sure if they planned that ahead of time, but I will keep you
updated on whether it's raining around this neighborhood at 10 o'clock.
