South Tampa did not hold back on Halloween this year,
from decked out decorations here
on West Rogers Avenue to a fundraiser and even some tricks.
Gray skies Saturday evening made for the perfect spooky backdrop,
take on street filled with
tykes, beelining for Elizabeth Hudson's home, where it's trick or treat.
If you do a joke or you have a talent, then you get a big candy bar.
James Flaherty came ready. What's a cow's favorite thing to do?
Moo? No.
Watch a movie. Oh my goodness.
And if you don't have something prepared for Hudson,
you battle her in hopscotch.
An outstanding performance gets you something from the prize wall.
I do it because the neighborhood likes it,
but I really do it for my grandkids.
On West Santiago Street,
the Freeze Family Fright Fest offered candy with a side of giving back.
My wife and I, we were both burned in 2016 from a grill accident.
And ever since then, we've just tried to raise money
for local burn survivor camps for kids over the couple of years.
Last year, they raised more than $5,200
to send two kids to Camp Hopataki.
And this year, after establishing their own nonprofit,
Bubba's buddies.
They're hoping to surpass that.
So it's nice for these kids that go to Camp Hope.
Okay.
And all these other burn survivor camps across
the country, for them to be able to be around
kids that have gone through the same thing as them,
and they can kind of grow from that.
And on West Rogers Ave,
Steve O'Dell has been collecting decorations for four decades.
And they get a big smile on their face, it's really cool.
The good thing is I can sit out
and watch them pull up with their parents.
From blow ups to headstones, even a handmade fire pit.
Every year gets a little bit bigger
and it's getting more challenging
to find places to put stuff Odell
here on West Rogers Ave plans to
have up these Halloween decorations
through Sunday night and plans to go
even more all out for Christmas this year.
