In Scottsdale, the family behind one long-time spooky tradition,
they're doing everything they can to keep those screams coming.
Hopefully they're weatherproof because it's going to be wet out there.
For more than four decades, though, this haunted house at a home near
Indian Bend and Hayden Roads has been a must-see for Halloween seekers.
Megan Spector gives us a look.
Halloween is one day away, and this Scottsdale home has transformed
into the ultimate haunted house.
So we're here with Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn's dad has been putting this together for quite a few years now.
Tell me how he started this.
He started when he was 14 years old in 1983.
It was just a couple gravestones that he put out in the yard.
And now 40 years later, it's turned into this massive thing
that the entire community gets involved in.
So we really love it.
When people come here, what can they expect to see?
It's going to be intense.
We don't recommend under 13, but they can see anything from the
Lost Dutchman Mine theme based off
the Superstition Spring Mountains. We have
homages to the Shining Hotel, the Overlook Hotel.
We also have a massive telephone booth room,
laser swamps all throughout.
And then we also have a few homages to the Haunted Mansion.
Obviously it's taken quite a few years to gather all the elements.
It's been a long time coming like everything
that you're seeing right now is not stuff
that we've just like put together in a year.
It really is over 40 years
and a lot of this stuff he's hand built himself.
So he's extremely talented
and just finding a really cool creative vision and he loves
doing a lot of illusions throughout his haunts
so that's really awesome.
We've seen the lines, community members, all around,
neighbors, they come just for this haunted
house. It's kind of insane.
It's gotten to a really, really big level, which we are so grateful
for and we love. The line is usually at least an hour long,
up to two, and it wraps around the
entire block.
So we're about three houses in, and so it'll go to the next street.
We're having some
spooky weather one day before Halloween.
What have you seen walking through your haunted house today?
It's a little wet. It's a little muddy.
We're hoping to kind of clear everything up.
Everyone says this year they've had over 10,000 people make
their way through the haunted house. And remember,
tomorrow night on Halloween, it's the last chance to check it out.
