And we've been asking you guys all hours, for all hour,
to send us in your Halloween decorations,
maybe the costume you're going to be wearing,
because Halloween is tomorrow.
And so, get this.
People are going to spend...
Upwards of $13.5 billion on Halloween decor,
costumes, kids' costumes, even the pets.
Because between the skeletons in the yard and the candy at the door,
Halloween is big business.
And that number, according
to the National Retail Federation, $13.5 billion is...
More than $4 billion of that is going towards costumes and decor.
And a marketing professor
at Kennesaw State says there's a reason we keep spending.
Patrick Fennell points to nostalgia, family traditions,
and the chance to express ourselves.
He says it's all about recreating
those childhood memories and making new ones.
Obviously we want to see them. We want to see your decorations.
We want to see what you're wearing.
Even in our newsroom right now, someone is dressed up as a hot dog.
I wish we could have them come join us. But Ella Talmadge
is joining me this morning to chat about what we are seeing.
Come on up, Shannon. Come on. We're on air right now.
We're talking about Halloween decorations.
Show us your beautiful costume.
We're on air right now live on Fox 5. Give the people a wave.
Oh my gosh, trick or treat!
This is totally unscripted television right now.
Ooh, a Reese's peanut butter.
I wish I could eat it.
I'm allergic to chocolate.
So I will eat it.
I will eat it.
I'll take a Swiss.
I will definitely take that.
Thank you so much. Happy Halloween. Enjoy.
Before we run out of time, Ella, tell us what
some people are saying. Obviously, we had a poll going.
Let's take a look at what the results were
for how much people are spending.
Yeah, before we get too distracted. Only a couple of takers
for the higher numbers, like 100 to 200 range.
Most people said $50 was their max. I think that's
what you said as well. I am myself.
I'm in the I'm not spending any money just in case, but not
Oh, okay. We just got some people saying, chiming in with over $200.
And I think I might
know who those people are.
I saw this amazing picture that Lauren Ferguson sent in of their
house from Dracula. Look at that amazing decoration.
It says, release the Kraken,
happy Halloween. Some were just views of that.
This is the kind of decoration I think that people
Should spend $200 on.
At least we also have some some other pretty creative decorations
that I'm sure were a little cost costly.
This one I had to pick, you know, Jolene.
Yes, it's Dolly. It says live like Dolly.
She got Jolene in the pot. I love that.
Stirring up some trouble. Love it.
She says keeping it fun for the kids and adults.
Monique does.
One more that I thought was pretty cute.
This one is from Tracy.
This isn't decoration, but she says she's handing out
candied grapes that she makes.
She's a small business owner.
I love that.
And this is something that she does, which is so cool.
So I love Halloween because I get to eat candy
and I get to eat it on air right now.
And this looks like it's chocolate-free,
so you might be able to have it.
I might be able to have that.
I got my food, got my Twizzlers.
I'm so excited to eat this.
Ella, thank you so much.
Make it a great day.
The Noon Show is next.
