Cinema with Sawsha: Your Halloween weekend watchlist

As you come into the newsroom now, it's time now to check in with our Sasha Stevens of the Cinema Sasha Cinema. That's what it was. I just completely had a little brain fart there. You have a fantastic Instagram account. You go through, look at what's trending in theaters and the new stuff and also streaming as well. So what can you tell us about what we should be watching this weekend, Halloween weekend? Gotcha. Tyler, so since it's Halloween weekend, I'm giving you guys the spooky, the thriller, the horror. So first up on my list for this weekend is called Nocturne. It's a new series on Apple TV. So the plot of this show is basically an ex-soldier from Philadelphia looking for a quiet life. He gets to the new town, and what happens? He finds out they're the serial killers. So he definitely is not in for a quiet time. Um, this. Show stars Stephen Graham. So Stephen Graham was actually in a very popular show called Adolescence on Netflix last year that won a lot of awards. So I'm excited to see how he goes from drama It's a thriller. So next up on my list for this weekend, another serial killer show. Obviously, you see a theme, but it is Halloween weekend, Dexter. The show Dexter is on its eighth season of its third spinoff. If you don't know what Dexter is, you must have been living under a rock. He's a bad guy that we hate to love. So he's died, come back, almost been arrested, tried to redeem himself several times. And so I'm excited to see what craziness he gets into this season. Dexter premieres today with only one episode. So we'll have to wait week to week, but it's definitely going to be worth it. I've watched all the episodes from the very beginning. Last on my list is a movie on Amazon Prime this week. It premieres today. It's called Apocalypse, The New World. So I watched the trailer for this earlier today. It's about a group of individuals going on a supply mission in an area of Spain that's infected with a virus. And when they get there, they find out it's not just a virus. It's actually zombies. So like I said, I watched the trailer earlier. It didn't really say what type of zombies these were, So they didn't say if they were like fast zombies like in World War Z or the slow ones like in War. Walking Dead because to me that really makes a difference Tyler. So definitely watching that this weekend looking for the jump scares and all the action. So Tyler it's Halloween weekend. So are you in some more of a horror theme or thriller. You know I don't think either. That's not really my vibe. I try to avoid those types of movies but I will say or shows and movies. I will say. Dexter, I've always heard fantastic things about the series, but I've never really got into it. I think I may have watched one episode. I didn't really hate it, so I feel like that's something I should, like, get into because a lot of people talk about it. Yeah, it's definitely engaging, and like I said, he's that character that you're not supposed to love, but he's just so lovable. So, yeah, I'm here for it, here for the Dexter. Like I said, I've watched all the seasons. They're on their second spinoff, so I'll definitely be watching that this weekend. So what are you into, thriller or horror? Oh. Both. I love it all. I just can't do it. So if you had to pick one this weekend, what are you picking? Definitely Dexter. Really? Yeah, definitely the Thriller. And so, I mean, this is the point. I'm going off script here. So we're at the point with streaming where now we have to wait week after week for things. I loved the old days with the Netflix, the Hulu. Everything just got put out at once. You got to binge watch it. And after a weekend, I got to see everything. Now I have to wait. And it is becoming appointment television. Yeah, it's turning into cable. And that's what we loved about streaming, that we could binge it. And I'm like, who do I write? Who do I write so I can get the whole season at one time? I legitimately want to know the thought process about why they decided to go back to this. Obviously, cost-wise, it makes more sense because you can drag it out. Yeah, definitely. The streaming subscription for longer so that they're actually able to see how the season unfolds. Yeah, and it might be for the demand as well. Because usually when they push out a season, we're all like, where's season two? Come on, put it out now. So when they drag it out a little bit longer, we kind of, it's that old mentality. Like, okay, we have to wait another year. I guess that's a good point, but I don't like that point at all. I like to be able to binge watch it and see it all at once. Me too, Tyler. I'm with you. But Dexter, that's going to be on my list. I will watch it because I'm re-watching some things right now. I've ended up on a flight the other day. I ended up re-watching several episodes, or several, the, what is it? My God, I can picture it, too. The Fast Five, the franchise, the Furious franchise. Oh, Fast and Furious, yeah. I'm re-watching those right now when I should be watching something I've never seen before. Look, here's my list. Yeah, I'm going to do that. Remind everyone where to find you.
