Pentatonix brings "Christmas in the City Tour" to Atlanta

There's no time to get into the holiday spirit. Pentatonix bringing its signature harmonies and festive magic to Atlanta with the Christmas in the City Tour. So joining us live this morning, we have Matt Salee and Kevin Olisola to give us a sneak peek at the tour and what fans can expect. So good morning to both of you. Thanks for joining us here in Atlanta this morning. Thank you so much for having us. Hi. You know what? Here we are talking about Halloween all morning and then y'all go and hit us with that song. And now we are in the Christmas spirit, which is pretty fantastic. Let's talk about the tour of Christmas in the city tour. Y'all do a fantastic holiday tour every year. What's going on with this one? Oh, man. What I'm excited about with this tour, I always think, theater, theater, theater. It's just so fun. It's very theatrical. We really put our hearts and souls into this. And so many of the bandmates, we all love musical theater. So we really want it to be a theatrical experience that people can get the songs that they love in a way that they haven't experienced before. And that's one of the things I think is so special about what we do. When we step on stage, we perform like it's the first time we've ever performed because there are so many fans who have spent the time to take them. the money that they've earned throughout the year and be able to come to this place so that they can get solace and relief and hope. So we just go on there and just always lay it out on the on the stage. I love it. You know, I get the sense, too, from from watching all of you perform. Obviously, we feel the joy from the music and from the beautiful sounds that you make. But we can feel the joy that all of you have in providing that music. Like you can tell that y'all love what Yeah, it's a dream. We just love music. We love people, and we love creating, and we see how our music has impacted so many people, and it's an honor, and we don't take it for granted. So it's a blessing that we get to do this year after year, and people come year after year, and so we just think, how can we make this more impactful? How can we make this more special and make the experience even better for people every year? So it just keeps getting bigger and bigger and better and better. And it does. It does get bigger and bigger and better and better. So such a unique sound. You know, if folks have heard any of Pentatonix's music, especially when it comes to creating the music without traditional instruments, which is incredible. So how do you keep pushing the boundaries of acapella? And I'll be honest, sometimes even though I know it's acapella, it's like you can't even fathom how it's y'all making all the music. That's such a great question. We appreciate that so much. I mean, we listen to so much music that's out there and we're getting inspired by so much that we hear. I mean, for example, you hear a hip hop beat and I go, oh, that's really cool. Like, how do I bring that into what we do, right? So that's what's so exciting to us. Just listen to the world around us, and let's bring it into our acapella. Yeah, it's amazing. It truly is incredible. But then you go, just the music itself, the songs. Let's talk about the songs that are featured in this latest performance. I love that you guys are able to have the new stuff, but then you also have the old classics that keep us coming back, you know, year after year. So what are the featured songs for the Christmas in the City Tour? Oh, so many songs. So many songs. I think of, we have a song with Frank Sinatra, which is crazy to say. Like, it's just, it's. It's wild to say. And so we do that one. That's probably one of my favorites. And also some of our originals, like Santa Be Good to My Baby. And just songs that, you know, we've done so many Christmas songs, we kind of run it out of them. Right. You got songs we have to do? We need more. So we need to create some of our own. And so it's been fun to To not only create and write new original content, original music, but into the style of whatever, you know, a genre that we're doing for this. And this specific album is big band and, you know, sixties, you know, that genre. So we're really excited about it. I can't wait. OK, I got to tell you, because I'm a huge Pentatonix fan. So that's what Christmas means to me is one of my favorites. But I got to stand by Mary, Did You Know, too, because the way y'all do, Mary, Did You Know? Whoa! Thank you. That is my favorite song that we do. I mean, I just think it's the one that really broke us, I think, in a lot of ways into this whole sphere. And there's something about the energy of it that we wanted to bring. You get to hear every person's voice so clearly. It's so rooted, like the stomps and the claps. There's something about it that's just so special and it feels timeless. And so we want to bring that every single time we come on stage. So when you come, you're going to hear the hollering. Hallelujah. You're going to hear the Mary Did You Knows right. The things that made you fall in love with us. You'll definitely get that on the stage. I love it. You won't be leaving disappointed and just looking at the actual production behind you as well as we were showing that clip when you were talking. I mean, this is a show that you don't want to miss Christmas in the city tour by Pentatonix. So Matt and Kevin, thank you both so much for checking in with us here in Atlanta. And we can't wait to have you here in the city. Yeah, can't wait, can't wait. Thank you so much, guys.
