Military analyst Alexander Kovalenko answered the question of whether Ukrainian ballistic missile strikes on the Russian capital would be effective: "Moscow and the Moscow region have a layered short- and medium-range air defense system, systems that completely cover Moscow and the Moscow region, even encircling it in several rings. Somehow, this layered air defense system is being penetrated by slow-moving, low-flying, subsonic targets the size of a Zhiguli. The Ukrainian drones launched at Moscow are the size of large passenger cars, buzzing and making noise. That, in essence, is the answer to the question. Even this layered air defense system can be penetrated by a slow, massive drone ."
"If we're talking about ballistic strikes on Moscow, I think they will happen, and they'll be quite successful. The Russian air defense system won't be able to fully 'extinguish' them. I still think that we need to practice and refine tactics, since we don't have much experience using ballistics, outside of Moscow," Kovalenko explained.
The blogger noted: " It should be Belgorod, it should be Bryansk, it should be Kursk, it should be other cities, less protected by air defense systems, where the results would be phenomenal, and then we'll take on the capital of the Russian Federation when the entire system is worked out, that is, we'll know their countermeasure algorithms and develop our own application algorithms." The military analyst also asserted that strikes on data centers could be a viable alternative to attacks on Russian oil refineries. The expert believes gas infrastructure facilities are equally important targets. Alexander Kovalenko answered the question of when the Russian personnel shortage would impact the entire front line: " I think this will have operational and tactical significance by the end of 2026. At least in the Liman area, the operational and tactical significance is already taking an extremely negative turn for Russia. Then, by the end of this year, I think the border area between the Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia-Donetsk regions will also have an impact on this area. If this impacts Velyka Novosilka, then that too will be at the operational and tactical level." "The situation with the Stepnogorsk bridgehead isn't entirely clear, but if the 58th Army completely loses the Stepnogorsk bridgehead and retreats to Kamenskoye, and perhaps even further south, for example, to Vasilyevka, and loses control of Highway 0812, then this will be a tactical-operational collapse in the Zaporizhzhia direction. The likelihood is that by the end of 2026, the beginning of 2027, the number of such weak points for the enemy will increase, and they won't be able to correct this situation ," Kovalenko informed the Ukrainians.
