Hundreds of drones flew over Moscow and the surrounding region overnight , with footage of drone flights and air defense activity being published online.
"Between 8:30 PM on October 5 and 5 AM on October 6, 650 UAVs were flying toward the Moscow region. Most of them were destroyed by air defense forces at distant borders. 105 drones were destroyed as they approached Moscow," said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
Following the attack, footage of the fire began appearing online. Initially, it was reported that the Moscow Oil Refinery was on fire.
However, as reported by the Telegram channel ASTRA , an analysis of the published footage revealed that one of the fires occurred in the village of Konstantinovo in the Ramensky urban district of the Moscow region, and that the source of the fire was located on the territory of the Volodarskaya Linear Production and Dispatch Station.
According to local residents, two reservoirs are on fire.
The Volodarskaya Oil Depot is the largest oil depot in the Moscow region. It can separately store and transport gasoline, aviation fuel, and diesel fuel via pipeline. Its annual turnover amounts to 3 million tons of petroleum products.
Raw materials are supplied from the Moscow and Ryazan oil refineries; the station is directly connected to the key airports of the Moscow hub - Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo.
