After resuming regional travel, Russian leader Vladimir Putin has increasingly chosen Siberia and the Far East for his visits. However, he is avoiding regions of European Russia that are regularly targeted by Ukrainian drones, according to the publication " Agentstvo ."

Next week, Putin may visit the Novosibirsk Region. This will be the fifth region he will visit since regional visits resumed in June. During his possible visit to Novosibirsk, Putin is expected to attend the opening of the Siberian Ring Photon Source, meet with regional governor Andrei Travnikov, and visit the campus of Novosibirsk State University.

According to media reports, most of these visits took place outside the European part of Russia, where the risk of drone attacks is significantly lower. Only one of the regions Putin visited after resuming travel was located in the European part of Russia.

In particular, Putin visited Irkutsk, where he visited an aircraft factory, Omsk, where he met with the President of Kazakhstan, and Krasnoyarsk Krai. The only exception was Kazan, located in the European part of Russia, where Putin arrived for a pre-scheduled summit. During this visit, Russian authorities introduced enhanced security measures: they deployed security forces from other regions to the city, restricted the use of electric scooters, and tightened communications monitoring.

Meanwhile, Putin continues to visit Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Valdai, where his main residences are located. According to media reports, the Russian leader's concerns about his own security intensified following reports of a possible drone attack on his residence in Valdai in December.

Ukrainian strikes on logistics facilities in Russia have not only military but also economic significance, economist Vitaly Shapran told Glavred in an interview . He added that large Russian warehouses and logistics centers could be used to supply dual-use goods.

"The Russians use these logistics hubs to import drones, components, and other items, including from China. Therefore, they are conditionally legitimate military targets," Shapran noted. At the same time, the expert emphasized that attacks on major services used by millions of Russians also have a societal impact. Such attacks demonstrate the consequences of war to the Russian population and create additional economic pressure.

“Russian society reacts very strongly to mass inconveniences. Remember how Putin's approval ratings dropped significantly when they started shutting down mobile internet? Russians really didn't like that. Now we see them reacting just as strongly to queues at gas stations.

This widespread phenomenon significantly lowers Putin's ratings. Wildberries is roughly equivalent to our Rozetka, Allo, and other similar services. In Russia, it's practically a monopoly. It turns out that the attack has been directed at services used by a large number of Russians. This is probably being done to make them feel the effects of the war. There's another factor that few people discuss, but it's known to experts. Not long ago, VTB, one of Russia's largest banks, launched a new share issue because it needs to plug a capital hole of approximately 600 billion rubles. To do this, they merged their businesses with the Wildberries group”, he added.
