Ukraine hits Russian Shahed launch site, early-warning radar, and drone relays across Crimea

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian site used to store, prepare, and launch Shahed-type attack drones in temporarily occupied Crimea, while also targeting an early-warning radar and drone-control infrastructure elsewhere on the peninsula, Ukraine’s General Staff reported. The drone facility was hit near Hvardiiske in Crimea’s Simferopol district. Residents reported aerial activity over the area between 3:30 and 3:39 am., followed by another wave between 4:34 and 4:47 am.

A large fire erupted at the military facility after the strikes. Preliminary reports suggested that a fuel and lubricant storage facility may also have been hit.

Witnesses reported secondary detonations, including what appeared to be small-arms ammunition exploding following the initial strikes. NASA FIRMS satellite data subsequently detected two separate fire hotspots around the Hvardiiske airfield.

Ukraine’s General Staff later provided a broader picture of the overnight operation, confirming that the site used for the storage, preparation, and launch of Russian strike UAVs near Hvardiiske had been targeted.

Ukrainian forces also struck a Russian early-warning radar station near Olenivka in western Crimea.

In the same area, the General Staff reported strikes on two ground-based relay stations used to control Geran and Gerbera attack drones. Ukraine had previously announced attacks against those relay systems.

The relay stations are part of the infrastructure supporting Russian long-range drone operations, helping maintain communications and control links for UAVs operating over extended distances.

Earlier, Ukrainian military intelligence tracked down and struck a Russian Murmansk-BN electronic warfare station near Cape Fiolent in temporarily occupied Crimea. The operation was carried out by specialists from HUR’s Unmanned Systems Department.

Ukraine said its operators located the high-value system before successfully hitting it near Crimea’s southwestern coast. The Murmansk-BN is a large coastal electronic warfare complex designed for signals intelligence, communications interception, and the jamming of shortwave radio transmissions.

Russia claims the system can disrupt communications at ranges of up to 5,000 kilometers, or roughly 3,100 miles, allowing it to interfere with military networks far beyond the immediate battlefield. Destroying or disabling the station could weaken Russia’s ability to monitor and disrupt long-range communications across the Black Sea region and beyond. Ukrainian forces have successfully established fire control over crucial supply highways leading into occupied Crimea. Military analysts recently confirmed that these strategic routes are now within constant striking distance. This development marks a significant shift in the ongoing effort to disrupt enemy logistics across the southern region. A specialized drone unit reported gaining targeting dominance over portions of two major highways. These vital roads stretch between occupied Mariupol and the Chonhar region in southern Ukraine. By monitoring these paths, Ukrainian troops can easily strike supply convoys moving toward the peninsula. Having fire control does not mean that local forces physically occupy the roads themselves. Instead, it indicates a constant ability to target and destroy any military traffic using the corridor. This effectively turns a once-safe supply route into a highly dangerous zone for transport vehicles.

These two highways form a major part of the so-called land corridor to Crimea. The route runs directly through several occupied territories in the southern part of the country. According to United24 Media, this corridor is essential for moving troops, heavy equipment, and ammunition. The establishment of fire control coincided with additional successful strikes across the southern front. The national security service recently hit two enemy patrol boats docked in the occupied port of Kerch.
