Reuters reports that in occupied Crimea, residents are lining up for hot meals due to power outages following Ukrainian strikes on infrastructure. In Massandra, under the scorching sun, a cook pours oil into huge pots outside, preparing food for dozens of people who can no longer cook properly at home. Crimean towns and villages spend most of the summer living with limited fuel supplies and electricity problems. The attacks on power plants and other infrastructure have made everyday life on the peninsula seem less and less like a holiday season: instead of the buzz of tourism, there are queues for food, the search for gas, kitchens without power, and a reliance on hot lunches. The head of the Massandra administration, standing next to boiling vats of buckwheat, which is then served alongside heated stew, told Reuters that her staff serves about 200 people a day. "We are preparing hot lunches for people, since in the current conditions not everyone has the opportunity to cook hot food on electric stoves," she said. Local resident Marina said that her leg ailment made it difficult for her to walk down from her 10th-floor apartment. But the lack of electricity forced her to search for a gas stove and gas cylinders to cook food. Another elderly resident, Alexandra , said she came to the smell of dinner after living without electricity for 10 days.
For Moscow, this is a humiliating picture, observers note. Crimea, which the Kremlin for years portrayed as a showcase of its power and a symbol of stability, now increasingly resembles a territory of humanitarian shortages: people are standing in line for buckwheat and stewed meat because their electric stoves don't work. Ukraine's campaign to isolate the peninsula is impacting not only military installations but also Russia's ability to provide Crimea with basic infrastructure.
As a reminder, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, stated that Ukraine will soon isolate occupied Crimea. The officer spoke about this in an interview with Reuters. The interview took place in an underground bunker, which serves as one of the SBS centers. "Madyar" told journalists that drone strikes over the past month have reduced traffic along the land corridor to Crimea by two-thirds. And the Ukrainian military has no intention of stopping. "In another month, Ukraine will gain full control over the highway," the commander said. He also announced the complete isolation of Crimea "in the near future." A severe fuel shortage has already emerged on the peninsula and other occupied territories. This is the result of Ukrainian drone strikes on the aggressor's key logistics routes on the Southern Front. Brovdi noted that for his men, destroying Russian military trucks and fuel tankers is "as simple a task as hunting partridges in an open field." These attacks effectively paralyzed the logistics of the Russian army, which led to a halt in the offensive. "We will create conditions that will make it extremely difficult for any Russian military personnel or military-industrial complex workers to remain in Crimea, other occupied territories, or to approach them," Madyar assured. He added that Ukraine also intends to inflict painful blows deep into Russia's rear so that the aggressor "feels the pain of the war" it itself started. It's worth noting that Ukraine has begun attacking bridges on the isthmus connecting Crimea to the mainland. At least seven strikes have been carried out in the last week alone. The southern group of troops has been cut off from supplies, and Crimea is now without fuel or military supplies.
