Footages of upgraded FP-1 and FP-2 UAVs, published by the Ukrainian company FirePoint, has greatly alarmed Russian Z-blogger and "angry patriot" Maxim Kalashnikov. He predicts a geographic expansion of Ukrainian strikes. He wrote about this in his blog on Telegram. He was particularly impressed by the FP-1, which, according to its developers, had an increased range of 3,400 km.
"It's 2,400 km from Kyiv to Tyumen... The FP-1 can now reach the Yamal gas fields and gas pipeline hubs. Under attack are oil fields in the Caspian Sea, oil terminals in the Leningrad Region and Novorossiysk, pumping stations of the main gas pipelines – Blue Stream and Turkish Stream. A host of hazardous chemical production facilities," Kalashnikov wrote. He stated that the Kremlin's plans to seize all of Ukraine had failed. "And where is your 'entire Ukraine,' you geostrategists with multiple moves? Does Pal Laich know? And now the enemy, taking advantage of the gaps in Russia's radar coverage and the weakness of its air defenses, is waging a strategic air campaign. Yes, unmanned. But dangerous. And this is a dead end, our lords. The system you've created will collapse as a result of this war," predicts the Z-patriot.
Recently, Fire Point chief designer and co-owner Denis Shtilerman published a photo of the launch of the new FP-1 long-range drone, or its mid-range version, the FP-2. Defense Express writes that the drone launch was likely a test, as the people in the video are using white lights. During real combat launches, the military uses red lights, as they are less visible in the dark. The drone itself also appears to have additional equipment—an unknown device on the tail unit and additional antennas. The publication noted that the drone has rather strange oval-shaped "growths" located above its wings.
According to Defense Express, one theory is that it has additional fuel tanks. Fire Point previously reported that the fuel tanks had been moved into the wings.
Defense Express emphasized that a similar solution was used on the so-called "Bellied Neptune." There is also an opinion that these “growths” are fairings for additional electronic equipment. On July 9, Denis Shtilerman announced that Fire Point had completed the development of its own turbojet engine for the Flamingo cruise missile .
"The most important thing is that we're developing our own engine for the Flamingo. We've already done it. And now we're assembling the first 10 test prototypes. And then we'll gradually transition to our own engine. We're building several production facilities right now, without waiting for approval or funding, using our own profits to produce rockets FP-9," he said. On July 17, it was announced that Fire Point could produce up to 90 Flamingo missiles per month. On July 24, Fire Point chief designer and co-owner Denis Shtilerman published a video of the Flamingo rocket launch at the Russian Avitek plant in Kirov.
