Azerbaijan has donated nearly 40 metric tons of railway equipment to Ukraine to help support its transport infrastructure. The assistance is intended to ensure the stable operation of Ukraine’s railway network, as well as the energy sector and other critical infrastructure facilities, amid the ongoing threat of Russian attacks.

Ukraine's Ministry of Energy announced that the equipment was transported through the Energy Ministry's humanitarian energy hub and delivered to one of the railway's regional divisions to assist Ukrainian railway workers and help maintain critical infrastructure. The ministry said new equipment is dispatched from the hub to different regions of Ukraine on an almost daily basis, helping ensure the uninterrupted operation of both the energy sector and other critical infrastructure facilities amid the ongoing threat of Russian attacks. Ukraine's Ministry of Energy expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan for its continued support and assistance in strengthening the country's critical infrastructure.

State Duma Defense Committee member Andrei Kolesnik stated that Azerbaijan's supply of energy equipment to Ukraine will not affect Russian military plans. These facilities will remain legitimate targets, the deputy told. According to the parliamentarian, the response to Baku's assistance should be further destruction of energy infrastructure on Ukrainian territory. He emphasized that this is the task of the Russian Armed Forces, which they will carry out. Kolesnik noted that equipment supplies, even non-military ones, help Kyiv maintain its energy sector. However, in his opinion, this does not change the status of these facilities as legitimate targets for strikes. The deputy added that the Russian military will continue to carry out its missions regardless of attempts to restore infrastructure. Azerbaijan's course of distancing itself from Russia and moving closer to European countries will not succeed and will lead to serious economic and political problems. State Duma Deputy Alexander Tolmachev expressed this opinion. The parliamentarian pointed out that Baku is deliberately following Yerevan's path. According to him, the severing of strong and promising ties with Moscow has already resulted in grave difficulties for Armenia, which the republic is having to overcome on its own. Tolmachev emphasized that partnership with European states in itself is not a bad thing. The main problem is that the new allies are making a complete cessation of all cooperation with the Russian Federation a key condition. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that six bilateral documents were signed during his visit to Azerbaijan.

"We signed six documents today. Our teams will definitely share the details later. These are in different areas," the president noted.

Zelenskyy emphasized that security and the defense industry are the number one priority today. "Ukraine has demonstrated resilience throughout this war and is sharing its experience today," he said.

"We will certainly develop our cooperation and co-production. These are very important areas that will certainly increase the security of our countries and our peoples, as well as trade turnover, which we truly want to increase," the head of state emphasized.

Zelenskyy also thanked Azerbaijan for its energy support during the difficult winter. He emphasized that these initiatives are currently being considered for continuation.
