Insider Drops HUGE Chiefs Trade Report...
Nov 3, 2026
Yesterday morning, Ian Rapoport said
that he wouldn't be surprised if the Chiefs make
a huge move to add a receiver, and he named two key names to watch.
Now, a few hours later, the Chiefs lost
in Denver in an absolutely heartbreaking game,
and then this morning, we got some even bigger
updates surrounding the Chiefs in a trade
for a wide receiver.
We're going to break down all these brand
new reports and discuss what it all means
going forward as yesterday's loss highlighted
a clear need for this team and something massive
is brewing.
Let's start with one of the big reports that just dropped,
and this was from Ian Rapoport.
It has been no secret that they have
been looking for a receiver on the trade market,
and it wouldn't be surprising at all if they added someone.
Now, we've covered two of the guys we're talking about today,
but mainly one here on the channel
before.
But what's different is that big things changed this weekend,
surrounding not only what it
would take to get them, but the Chiefs' interest.
Now we can start with Brian Thomas.
Pro Football Talk reported the Chiefs do have interest alongside
the Steelers and the Commanders, and there's been rumblings about
Jacksonville now at 5-2 not having a ton of inclination to, of course,
trade him, especially after the big win over the Colts yesterday, 42-7.
His price is actually going up because that's now three teams
interested, but the name I want to focus on today is Josh Downs.
And remember, Kansas City isn't the only team
in the line for Josh Downs, but they seem to be, by far,
maybe outside of the Steelers, the most realistic option.
Now, last week, Evan Sitter already reported the Chiefs and the
Steelers both offered day three picks for him, but he's still a cult.
But yesterday into this morning, we got a huge report
from Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter, the two most notable names
in the business, revealing the Chiefs have their eyes set.
Josh Downs and it seems now that he is the priority for this team
and it makes a lot of
sense why after yesterday's game but this new report is pretty big.
Let's look at what yesterday
showed. The Chiefs led Denver 24 to 13 going into the fourth quarter
and they didn't score again.
We got the ball to the Denver 1 with 15 seconds left.
I don't even want to talk about what happened yesterday.
They got one yard on four snaps, came up short.
You obviously had the false start.
That probably wasn't a false start on a touchdown to Rashee Rice.
Now, Mahomes was dominant, 30 for 41, 321 yards, three touchdowns.
And folks, this game wasn't on him.
He put up those numbers without, you know,
great help from his actual wide receivers.
They only caught 90 of those yards.
We'll dive into a man who had an insane game a little bit later.
But the big focus here is the fact that they need a WR.
Now, Rashee Rice went seven for eight out of,
you know, targets and receptions.
Pretty good.
Obviously, Xavier Worthy, 13 yards.
But the whole problem kind of was shown in today's game.
And when Rice is the only receiver
that defense even look at, it's a problem.
With Denver now being six and two,
Kansas City obviously now in a bit more of a rough spot.
The market has one receiver whose team is done waiting.
And that's, of course, Josh.
Downs. So let's talk about what happened
with Josh Downs yesterday and why it makes a lot more
sense to trade him now. On Friday,
Shane Steichen confirmed the trade request and said Downs would
still suit up against Jacksonville.
Yesterday, only five targets, four catches, 23 yards. The
Colts were down 35-7, blown coverage left him wide open,
and he got his first touchdown of the season.
It was the only touchdown Indianapolis scored
the entire day, and it wasn't all good.
In the first half, Jonathan Taylor
tossed bounce off of Downs' face mask.
Colts lost the fumble, but here's what matters for the Chiefs.
After the game, the media went
into the Colts' locker room, and Downs wasn't there.
One Colts reporter wrote that nobody has heard
from Downs since his trade request went public.
He's not talking.
He's just waiting for the trade deadline,
and here's what Steichen said after the 35-point loss.
Flat out wasn't good enough, got outplayed,
got outcoached in all three phases.
I'm going to evaluate everything,
every position going forward, and that certainly includes
quarterback.
And asked if he's still a starter, Daniel Jones said,
I got to play better, got to execute
more.
But folks, there's also reports now about
Jonathan Taylor getting traded, Downs is getting
traded, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's even today.
And the coach evaluating everybody,
it is a team in an absolute mess right now.
They are two and six.
Their leading receiver isn't talking to anybody.
Their coach is evaluating every position.
At this point, I think their owner,
their front office, they need to move on with Josh
Downs before it gets even worse.
They're losing leverage by the second.
And guess who can take advantage of that?
That is Kansas City.
Now, the fair question, is Downs even worth it right now?
I actually think he is because his numbers,
sure, they've fallen off a cliff.
Over his last five games,
he's averaging only 28.8 receiving yards a game.
And before that, it was 62.
which is pretty rough, but even after all that,
which is crazy, Downs still leads the Colts in
receiving yards this season with 330.
Put him next to Rice and the best receiver Kansas City has
right now, obviously being Rasheed Rice,
that'd be a decent pairing, a very, very decent pairing.
And on the Chiefs, only Kelsey would have more.
Obviously, Emmitt Johnson yesterday absolutely
exploded, though can you rely on him going forward a rookie?
No, like probably not. Maybe, who knows?
He seems like a star, but it is what it is there.
So the guy in Downs who's
In a slump on a 2-6 team, I'd go for it.
He's not only a check down guy.
22% of his targets this season have gone 20 yards or more downfield.
And when they do throw it to him,
the average pass travels 10.7 yards in the air.
So that's not a guy who's just living
behind the line of scrimmage either.
And defenses Sunday saw it as well.
You took away Rashee Rice and you take him away.
Dare anybody else to beat you, it works.
And this, you know, Josh Downs would give them a second answer.
He's quick in the slot.
A guy Mahomes can find when they feel good.
Small like it did at the one, even
though they did technically get the game winning
touchdown that was rescinded because of a false start.
And obviously there's bigger questions like
Andy Reid's play calling that we can talk
about.
But for now, I think getting another wide
receiver here, it needs to happen ASAP as
well as an O-lineman because Jalen Moore did not or Jalen,
sorry, did not do it well.
This also wouldn't be a rental just for January.
It's two months to find out if Downs
is the guy you want to keep if Rice walks.
I think you'd rather learn
that in your building than from the other sideline.
Now, money-wise, Worthy counts $3.8
million towards a cap, $4.4 next year.
Downs, zero next year, unless, of course, you choose to sign him.
So when does this happen?
Again, last week, Evan Sideri said the Chiefs
and Steelers had both offered,
and then a deal was expected to go down after this weekend,
which is why earlier in the video, I said today might be the day.
But the weekend is now over.
The deadline is November 10th at 4 p.m. Eastern.
And on Sunday, the Chiefs played the Jets.
And I mean, you have to take care of business Sunday against the Jets.
There's no ifs, ands, or buts.
And I know everyone feels like the
world is kind of sky is falling down.
Very brutal loss.
This team is very good, and they can still obviously make noise.
For Downs, the price has already kind of moved.
The Colts won in the third.
Cedric said they're likely to get a fourth or a fifth.
Kansas City has both their fourth and their fifth.
And with the Colts now losing leverage, it just makes so much sense,
especially with the money working as well.
With the Chiefs having $3.6 million in cap space on the active roster
and only what's left prorated amount
of downs salary counts towards the cap.
But Pittsburgh, they're out there as well.
They won yesterday.
They're six and two.
Their receivers are in a pretty rough spot right now.
Like DK Metcalf is coming off of four yards.
So both teams still need them.
The difference is one of them just lost first place.
And I think this, if anything, a loss yesterday might show
this front office that they desperately
need.
I mean, no lineman.
They need a wide receiver.
They clearly need somebody ASAP.
Here's where I kind of land.
The increased reporting of Ian Rapoport
and Adam Schefter surrounding Josh Downs,
it isn't coming out of nowhere.
Like Brian Thomas would be cool, probably better.
But I think Josh Downs gives you a realistic option going forward.
And I think it's something that can happen before November 10th,
because obviously November 10th would
be after the game against the Jets.
You need to get help in ASAP.
Offer that fourth round pick and get it done.
Is Josh Downs going to fix the offense by himself?
Absolutely not.
But he can definitely help it.
Yesterday was brutal.
I mean, they should have won the game.
You can talk about penalties that shouldn't
have been called at the end of the day here.
I mean, Harrison Bucker as well.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's cut today.
I just want to forget about that game.
So that's why I didn't talk about it too much.
But to give you guys a bit of a ramble on it,
Harrison Bucker needs to be cut.
Does that mean Justin Tucker kicks?
I don't know.
Like, we'll have to see.
I don't really want to see him kick.
I'm a pretty rough person, but you never know.
He'd be maybe a decent kicker.
But outside of that.
Bucker is probably going to be gone maybe today.
I will have to wait and see.
They need a wide receiver.
They need to make a trade a lot sooner
than I think people are talking about
because Mahomes is still playing at an elite level.
I mean, they're still rumbling.
There's still concerns about Chris Jones.
There's still a lot of concerns.
You were up by 11 going into that fourth
quarter, and you lose the game.
It is absolutely abysmal.
But guess what?
If Harrison Butker hits that 54, 57-yard field goal or whatever it is,
they're in a better spot.
If Andy Reid doesn't coward out fourth and inches,
they're in a better spot.
A couple tweaks.
Hopefully, they fix it.
Keep you guys up to date.
Thank you guys for watching.
Comments down below.
Do you think Downs is a Chief by November 10th?
Why for yes and for no.
I'm Nick.
This is Chiefs HQ.
Cheers.
