Chiefs Positioning for BLOCKBUSTER Trade...
Nov 4, 2026
Kansas City Chiefs are positioning
for a blockbuster trade as an NFL insider has just
dropped a massive,
massive report surrounding the Chiefs and a very notable name in George
Pickens. And with the deadline inching closer and closer,
this report changes the outlook of what
this team and Brett Veach will be looking
to do at the wide receiver position. So we're going to
break down that report as well as a ton
of other updates revealing that folks, Brett Veach is going
Going bigger than we thought.

You guys have been an absolute beast with the support.
So let's dive into it all because Schultz
didn't just stop at the reports surrounding
George Pickens, but he said a bunch of things.
Let's start with this. Obviously,
the Cowboys are struggling. They beat,
or rather they lost to the Cardinals in embarrassing
fashion. Pickens, he's on the franchise tag
and he's not being used the way that he was last year.
And then Jordan Schultz came out
and said that the league is wondering, yes, wondering about the
potential of George Pickens being traded after the disastrous,
disastrous loss against the Cardinals.
And he also goes on to say that the Chiefs,
of course, or rather people around the NFL are saying
the Chiefs obviously need a wide receiver.
And all of a sudden now, talks have really picked up
surrounding Pickens. Now, let's start with the tag.
Dallas tagged him in February, which means
he signed the $27.3 million tender.
And the deadline for a long-term deal came and went on
It means Dallas cannot extend him until the regular season is over.
Whoever has him right now is basically renting him.
Now, the usage on Sunday against Arizona,
Pickens and CeeDee Lamb were off the field
in some late packages, and Brian Schottenheimer
was asked about it Monday, and here's what
he said.
There's certain personnel packages that they don't play
in, and there's a reason for that.
And a week before, Pickens
was asked directly about how he gets more involved, and he said,
well, I'm just doing what they tell me to do.
Let's not forget here, folks,
Dallas is paying him almost $30 million to stand in the sideline
when the game gets tight,
and it's clear he hasn't really been a part of their plans this
season, and Jerry Jones said on his radio show
in late October that Pickens needs to
have more production.
All of this to be said,
The Cowboys are free-falling.
The Chiefs desperately need a wide receiver.
One, if they can go out and get George Pickens,
although he's a polarizing name,
some off-the-field stuff,
he is such a good wide receiver.
And I think paired with Patrick Mahomes,
he would be absolutely elite.
Even though he has some of the off-field issues,
this is a perfect team to be able to kind of take that
and fix it, I guess,
or be able to kind of take it in
and not be very, very affected
by his off-the-field shenanigans.
When an insider like Jordan Schultz reports this, especially
for a team that's 3-5, the phones are usually already ringing,
and Dallas has its own reason to listen as well.
Per Sportsnot, the Cowboys have only four picks in next April's draft,
with nothing in rounds 3, 5, or 6.
A team that's 3-5, with no middle round picks,
holding on to a receiver that they can't extend,
that is how a seller is born, and more importantly, there's one team
that needs this more than anybody, and it is the Kansas City Chiefs.
We can go back two weeks.
In Seattle, the Chiefs scored three.
points, which tied the fewest in any Patrick Mahomes start.
And through six games this year,
Kansas City's wide receivers had 735 receiving yards,
which is ranked 30th out of 32. Now,
of course, this past Sunday in Denver,
he threw for 321 yards, much better. But the more you dig
into it, the worse it gets. Xavier Worthy, only 13 yards.
Rasheed Rice obviously finally came back.
He was okay. But this team's leading receiver
was running back rookie Emmitt
Johnson and not to take anything away from him.
He looks like a future stud.
They need a better wide receiver.
This is a team that cannot afford to waste Patrick Mahomes prime.
Current leader on the team is Travis Kelsey with 410.
George Pickens has 533.
Yes, 533.
And that's Pickens in a role that's shrinking in Dallas.
And that's very interesting.
Now, Adam Schefter came out with a big report as well,
saying, I think it would be a surprise
if the Chiefs didn't make some type of deal
for some receiver before the deadline Tuesday.
That's not Schefter directly linking Pickens,
but it is him saying that a receiver is coming.
And the question is, which one?
We've covered a lot of them.
Josh Downs, probably video coming later today.
Some offers have been leaked there.
Pickens would undoubtedly be the most expensive, realistic option.
But at this point, I don't know
if a band-aid like Josh Downs would fix this.
Now, we've went through names.
Like I mentioned, Brian Thomas Jr., Josh Downs,
Stephon Diggs, maybe even Nico Collins, to a degree.
But Pickens is the most.
I guess proven receiver of the bunch.
I mean, you can argue proven.
Stefon Diggs or Nico Collins.
But when it comes to the best right now, it is George Pickens.
Because last year in Dallas, 93 catches,
1,429 yards, nine touchdowns, all career highs.
And remember what Dallas paid for him in May of 2025.
They obviously sent over a third-round pick.
The Pittsburgh Steelers did.
Or rather, Cowboys sent to Pittsburgh a third-round pick
and a fifth and got a sixth back.
So the Cowboys bought low, and now they could sell, hey, pretty high.
People are acting like this is a huge, huge drop off of your form.
It's not really.
Over the last five games, you're still
averaging 76 receiving yards a game.
Now, I'm not saying this is the most likely option
or honestly the best option, like receiver
wise it is, but I just think getting somebody like
this who can immediately slot into your
WR1 that moves Rasheed Rice to your WR2
and then of course moves Xavier Worthy into kind
of a deep threat guy, what he's supposed to be,
you're in a very good spot.
And Pickens, folks, has more receiving yards this season than Rice
and Xavier Worthy combined,
albeit Rice has been injured.
Now, Pickens has been injured a little
bit as well, or at least he's been banged up.
He was questionable last week with a shoulder
and hamstring injury, played anyway, had a
59-yard touchdown, wiped out by a holding call,
which would have been impressive.
And the week before in Philly, he caught a 21-yard touchdown.
The next-gen stats gave him only 14.9.
He has a 50% chance, folks, I guess 14.9, of being completed.
Picture that next to Mahomes,
every defense in the AFC right now sits on Kelce and dare
somebody else to beat them.
We've been covering it in the channel for a while.
I think Pickens is the someone else.
He's a guy who can win routes,
obviously win the ball in the air when plays break down.
And I think Mahomes at this point could really
use someone like him because he's not a project.
He's not a maybe he's the exact type of player
that would immediately make this offense one
of the best in the NFL.
Now, ESPN's Ben Solek saw this coming in October.
His words were, if the two and four Cowboys keep losing games,
I'd call Pickens on the
franchise tag.
And back in May, Mina Kimes floated almost this exact deal on ESPN.
If you're Brett Veach, would you consider trading
a 2027 second for George Pickens?
They kept losing.
The tag is the part that makes this work for Kansas City
because there is, of course, the
money factor.
Let's dive into it. On paper, it looks impossible, right?
Pickens' tag is $27.3 million.
The Chiefs have about $3.6 million in cap space.
But here's what people miss. A player's salary
is paid out over 18 weeks.
You trade for him at the deadline, and you only take on what's left.
So by the deadline, half of it's already
been paid. So by the math here,
the number Kansas City actually has to fit in is about $13.6 million.
It's still about $10 million more than they have,
so either salary goes back to Dallas
or Dallas eats some of it.
At the end of the day,
there's going to have to be salary eaten somewhere.
This isn't something that's easy to be done,
and I think it's about $13.6 million.
Correct me down below if I'm wrong on that.
It's a lot of math for me.
Obviously, I could be confused about it,
but at the end of the day, they're going to
need to make money work.
Someone's going to have to eat the money,
but it is possible to get done.
Now, one AFC scout told Nick Harris back in February,
the best case for Dallas in a
George Pickens trade is a second round pick
and maybe a third or a fourth.
And Solak's own pitch for Kansas City
was right in that range, a 20, 27, third and a
conditional fifth.
I would do that all day, every day.
Absolutely.
You're not going to pay a first for a guy
who's a free agent in, obviously, you know,
when the season ends in the fall, I guess, or the summer.
But at the end of the day right now, I guess the merch.
You're not giving up a first.
If you can get up for a second or a third,
I'm doing that all day.
And also, Kansas City would hold his rights in March,
which means tagging him again would cost $32.8 million.
But for a team that kind of needs a wide receiver,
could make some sense.
And guess what, folks?
It's not just a rental.
It's a nine-game tryout with a head start on keeping him.
And Brett Veach has done this before with various names.
You think back to Kadarius Toney in 2022,
DeAndre Hopkins in 2024.
When he needs a receiver at the deadline,
he goes and gets one.
Though in this instance, obviously, George Pickens.
He's a pretty big one.
So both teams play Sunday first.
Kansas City, of course, hosts the Jets.
Dallas, they go to Indianapolis.
And if the Cowboys drop to three and six,
that phone call gets a lot easier.
The money can work.
You can make it work.
The question is.
Do the Kansas City Chiefs actually go out and get him?
And does Jerry Jones sell?
Comment down below what your thoughts are,
because new reports are going to continue to fly every single day.
And the way I see it right now,
if they can get him without giving up a first,
I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I just think he's such a good wide receiver.
Obviously, a third would be best,
but Josh Downs is going for a third or a fourth,
and he's nowhere near the receiver that George Pickens is.
And I think when we're looking at what this team can use upside-wise,
You have to go out and actually try to make a big splash,
not necessarily guys like Brian Thomas Jr. or Josh Downs,
because you don't really have a WR1 right now anyway.
I mean, the Steelers are heavily involved in trade talks as well
for a wide receiver, but they have DK.
He's supposed to be their WR1, even though he just had four yards.
They have guys like Jeremy Bernard.
Yeah, we have Rasheed Rice.
Yeah, we have Xavier Worthy.
I mean, you have Travis Kelce as your quote-unquote WR1.
I mean, maybe Emmitt.
Emmitt's going to be the best.
But comment down below what your guys' thoughts are.
We'll see you in the video later today.
