Chiefs make HUGE move... - Amazing Injury Updates | Kansas Chiefs News
Oct 29, 2026
Big news, the Chiefs have not only just made
a major move that has a ton of Chiefs fans excited,
but we just got some fantastic news surrounding
injuries involving a wide receiver.
It's going to be a very exciting week
and we just got a ton of good news.
But not only that,
Andy Reid spoke out about the Chiefs acquiring Justin Tucker
and some more updates surrounding trade talks.
There's a lot to go over today.
I want to start with the big move of the day,
which is surrounding Omar Norman Lott
because this move flew under the radar but it is massive for the team.
Lott was the Chiefs second
round pick in 2025 number 63 overall
and he's a defensive tackle out of Tennessee and as a rookie
he got into the rotation made five tackles
and got his first NFL sack but then on October 19th
2025 against the Raiders he tore his ACL
that was almost one that was over rather one year ago and
something fans aren't talking about enough
was his last year in Tennessee he had the best pass
rush win rate of any interior defensive lineman
in the country this was a guy developing into a
future star now on wednesday the big move literally about
an hour ago the chiefs designated him to
return from the physically unable to perform list
which is a massive move and what this means
exactly it now opens a 21 day practice window before
the club must add him back to the 53 man
roster so the clock is now officially running he
can practice right now he can be around the team
and the Chiefs have until November 18th to put him on the roster
and if they don't he's done for
the year but again this is massive news
this is somebody that the Chiefs can hopefully use this
season and somebody that quietly we were all waiting
to return with all the talk about trades
I mean ridiculous signings this just went under
the radar now Andy Reid has been hinting at this
for weeks October 14th he said he's getting better
he's getting closer Brett Veach said back in April
that he expected Norman Lott to be ready for training camp
but unfortunately it took longer
than that, opened up the season on the PUP,
and that meant missing at least the first four games.
But here's why this is a lot bigger than just
a depth move on the defensive line. Through week
seven, the Chiefs have only seven sacks.
The Dolphins are the only team that has fewer,
and the team they play on Sunday, Denver,
has 21, which is tied for most in the NFL.
Two guys that carry the pass rush are missing it.
In 2023, Chris Jones and George Karlaftis
had 10.5 sacks each year.
This year, Jones has half a sack, and of course, George only has one.
Peter Woods this year's first round pick has half a sack as well
but Norman Lott was drafted to rush
from the inside and as a rookie according
to PFF he got six pressures on 48 pass rushes before
the injury. Now obviously the rotation inside is Chris Jones
and they have a few other names as
well including recently undrafted rookie they signed Bryson Eason
who has played 18 defensive
snaps all year. These are all snaps that Norman Lott is coming for.
Now he's not going to fix the
pass rush by itself but a fresh healthy interior rusher
on a defense that can't get home is
exactly the kind of move that matters in late October.
But the good news doesn't stop there.
We got a huge update surrounding Rasheed Rice.
Matt Derrick had it from Reid's press conference.
Andy Reid said that everyone will practice today,
which means right tackle Jalen Moore and receiver
Rasheed Rice are expected to work,
which means Rasheed Rice is nearing a return very, very soon.
Now, of course, Rice injured his hamstring
on October 4th in Las Vegas, and he missed the
Chargers game and the Seattle game.
Before that, though, he had 13 catches, good for 190 yards in
three games which is 63 yards a game
and look at the scoreboard in the three games Rice finished
the Chiefs scored 29.3 points a game
in the two games without him only 12.5 points per game
now Mahomes was asked about Rice on Wednesday
and he said he's such a physical receiver he does a
great job within zone concepts as well
as being physical versus man coverage having him back out
there will be big for us and with Rice availability has
been the whole story in 2024 he played four
games before he needed his LCL repaired
and then in 2025 of course the suspension but when he's on
the field he produces as simple as that i mean realistically
as a rookie he put together almost
a thousand yards and after the suspension last year 571 yards
in just eight games with five
touchdowns he is a very very good wide receiver
and we talked about all the trades that are going
to happen which they will make one four wide
receiver where Rasheed Rice is kind of the X factor
here now Reed didn't promise he plays Sunday
so be careful with some of the hype i mean Wednesday
is obviously step one.
We'll see what happens with Friday's injury report,
but at the end of the day,
tomorrow and Friday,
you're going to tell the true story.
But even if he's not back this weekend,
it's still a good sign going forward.
And if Rasheed Rice is good to go,
keep in mind,
he walked into a receiver room
where Travis Kelsey still leads the team
with 343 yards.
The last time Rice saw Denver back in week one,
he caught a touchdown.
Now there is one more receiver to talk about
because Andy Reid did,
rookie Cyrus Allen.
He played five snaps in week four,
nine in week six,
and 16 in Seattle.
And Reid said it's going up again.
We're growing him as we go. Talented.
He got a little bit more last week. He'll get a little
bit more this coming week. And if you're enjoying
the Daily Chiefs content, make sure to hit that
subscribe button, folks. We upload every single day,
multiple times a day. But now let's talk
about the offensive line a little bit,
because Reid also mentioned Jalen Moore. Moore took a
concussion against the Chargers in week six.
He missed the game against Seattle. And of course,
Joshua Isiodu played every snap at right tackle.
And in one week, the whole line got completely
shuffled. And Mahomes was honest about Seattle.
After watching the film, he said, I think I should
have more confidence I moved sometimes I didn't necessarily have
to move myself into pressure I
created some of those pressures
and that's Mahomes basically taking the blame and straying the blame
away from the offensive line but getting
his starting right tackle back will obviously make
it a lot easier for him to have trust in himself
in the pocket now the tackle that isn't coming
back is Josh Simmons the Chiefs put
their 2025 first round pick on injured reserve last Thursday
he'll miss at least four games
and there's increasing speculation and reporting that he
is going to miss, you know,
maybe the rest of the year or at the very least, he will not play
another game for the Chiefs.
And all of this stemmed from that big meeting that came out on
Monday about how Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes were in a meeting room
and Josh Simmons had his feet
up. And that was obviously weird.
Mahomes was asked about it today. And he said, you have to
have hard conversations at some point.
We've had great conversations after, and I think we're
moving in the right direction.
But again, Ian Rapoport said this week that he isn't even sure
Simmons plays for the Chiefs again.
So more being back isn't a bonus right now. They basically need
every tackle they can have. It's not a luxury.
It's a very, very big deal. Now, finally, Reid
spoke out on Harrison Bucker,
but Reid said surrounding Butker that there is a problem with
his technique, and that's why the Chiefs added Justin Tucker
to the practice squad. He also said
there's nothing physically wrong with Harrison.
Now, Tucker hasn't kicked a game in a game rather
since 2024, had that suspension.
There's a lot of question marks about him as a person. I'm not a
fan of the move, but at the end of the day,
I mean, the Chiefs went with it, so it is going to
be interesting. Now, Andy Reid did confirm
that it's Harrison Bucker's job this week to lose.
He's going to get the bulk of the reps
and he's expected to kick in Denver, Reid said.
And he also said that Harrison will probably go this week.
And when he was asked if both kickers could be active,
he said, I haven't seen that scenario.
No.
And Reid also said, we love Harrison Butker.
He understands the business and how it works.
He's struggling a little bit.
It's fluid.
It's fluid is not necessarily the best thing
to hear from your coach when you are a kicker.
Here's where things stand.
The Chiefs are 5-1.
The Broncos are 5-2.
half a game back and the Chiefs beat them 31 to 10 back in week one
so to summarize all this here's
a quick checklist of everything
that happened folks Rasheed Rice he is back at practice Moore
is back at practice Norman a lot
of big moves surrounding him go beat the Denver Broncos so
folks let me know down below what your thoughts
are at the end of the day you have Rasheed Rice
potentially coming back a big move for a young
and up-and-coming defensive end but I think at
the very least or defensive tackle rather I think
at the very least right now they're going to need
to take care of business now on the Denver side
of things Jalen Waddle he is now questionable so
we're going to have to see what happens with him
that would be helpful to the Kansas City Chiefs
you obviously never want to see another player injured
but I think Rice is a huge piece here
with the trade deadline coming more moves
are absolutely going to be coming for this team and
more moves are going to happen and if Rice is healthy
and he goes out and dominates on Sunday
does that change Brett Beach's plan that's a big question
so let us know down below what your
thoughts are on this do you want to see Rice back
or where do you kind of see your comfort level
there and do you think the chiefs are going
to be able to take care of business against a very
very good especially defensively denver broncos
team thank you guys for watching we'll see you
