We are officially back from our epic camping trip and settling right back into our normal home routine here in Alpena! Things got emotional today because I finally get to share the brand new Memphis memorial plushie with you all. So many of you requested this limited edition husky plushy after she passed away in June, and seeing the little butterfly and green paws makes my heart so full. Kira even gave it a little sniff and wanted to snuggle, which was incredibly sweet. We also had to officially close up the pool for winter. It got way too cold too fast for one last swim for Eleanor, so Jamie and I are prepping the backyard for the freezing weather.

Later in the day we headed over to the Besser Museum for their annual Fall Fest to celebrate my nephew John Matthews birthday! The museum was packed with amazing local history, including that super rare Puddle Flyer car built right here in Alpena. Charlotte got her face painted, and we even got to check out some specular hematite rocks that look exactly like the ones we just found mining in the Upper Peninsula. Aunt Pat made the absolute cutest Super Mario cake for the party, and we also got to hang out with my brothers dog Stewart who was begging for pizza crusts.

Back at home, Kira is officially off her medicine and I am so relieved her back is feeling okay after all that heavy hiking. She was feeling spunky enough to watch the red squirrels in the yard and demand her evening couch snuggles with Jamie. She was also being super picky in the kitchen while we filmed for Snow Dogs Cooking! She absolutely refused a fresh Gala apple slice until I brought out her regular frozen cut up apple slices. Huskies are just so funny with their food routines!
