Have any of you ever been through a liver tumor or major surgery with an older dog before? Leave a comment down below and tell us your stories—we would love to hear your experiences and advice!
We started our morning bright and early at 6:00 AM to get Memphis ready for her big vet appointment. She had to take some trazodone before we left to help keep her calm, which made her super wobbly and goofy, but the amazing news is they didn't even have to put her under twilight sedation for her x-rays and ultrasound! Dr. Ryan was able to get everything he needed and even did a needle biopsy while she was just chilling out. Jamie, Eric, Jennifer, and Greg went out on a mountain bike ride later in the day to help stay distracted, because the waiting is always the hardest part.
We didn't get the best news, but we also didn't get the worst news today. The vet did find a tumor on Memphis's liver. While a liver tumor sounds incredibly scary, it actually gives us answers as to why her liver levels have been so crazy for so long. The tumor appears to be in one lobe rather than spread out everywhere, which means surgery at the Flint Surgical Center might be a real option for our 13-year-old girl! We are sending out the biopsy results and should know what type of tumor it is in about a week. Age is not a disease, so we are staying incredibly positive and keeping our hopes high!
To help offset the upcoming costs of a CT scan and potential surgery, we officially launched our brand new Protect the Memphis merch! You can scan the QR code in the video to check out the adorable design. All proceeds from the merchandise, our GoFundMe, and our channel memberships go directly into the dogs' emergency vet fund to ensure Memphis gets the absolute best care possible. Thank you all so much for the love, prayers, and constant support.

It's too early to be awake. Memphis is like, I'm not really awake.
I'm on my meds already. Good wonderful beautiful. Oh, watch out wobbles. Good wonderful beautiful
morning Pawdience. We got up at six o'clock. I gave Memphis the medicine they wanted me to give
her so that hopefully they don't even have to put her in twilight and she's very woobly. She's
very woobly. I'm trying to get her to go to the bathroom and she won't. We got about five minutes
before we have to leave. I'm hoping to get her to go to the bathroom before we go.
If not, I'm gonna walk around at the vet's office and see if I can get her to go there but
she's a little woobly. Woobly woobly. So hopefully they won't actually have to sedate her because
look she's pretty still right there and that's... I mean she's sedated because she's on the
trazodone but we're hoping they don't have to do like twilight or anything. That's our hope.
All positive vibes today. Positive vibes. Positive vibes. Positive vibes from Memphis
Yeah Memphis doesn't like drugs. Trazodone makes her pretty goofy. Even the small doses.
I don't like putting her on it either but if this makes it so she doesn't have to go under
full twilight even, I can handle it for one day. By the way, it's beautiful today.
Jamie I think is going biking with Eric today to keep himself distracted. Eric asked him if
he wanted to go and I said that's an amazing idea. You guys should go. So I think Eric,
Greg and Jamie are going biking later today on real bikes not even e-bikes. I don't know if
they're going to take a camera. I told Jamie he didn't have to. We'll figure all that out later.
You're going to sit down aren't you? All right let me go get the car ready for you then. You're
very woobly but what's funny is you were so excited in the car because you know where you are.
It cracks me up that this is still one of your favorite places is the vet's office. Okay step.
Oh good job. Good job. Come on. You already did your thing. She's like yeah but I can do more.
All right come on. Let's go inside. Those are pretty flowers. Oh I'm sure there's female there
too. Come on. All right Memphis, you ready to do this? She's like I'm just ready for a nap. I'm
sure you'll get a good nap in while you're here. Just from the treasurer. That's so crazy. I barely
ever give any of them any of that stuff. She's like oh yeah a nap sounds good right now. Okay
they're gonna come get you. I don't want to leave you but I have to. Remember when I used to be able
to stay here when they used to do all this stuff and I just stayed with you and watched all this
stuff? That was way cooler. Hey sleepy girl. Look at you. We made it home. She doesn't want to eat her food.
They did not have to give her any more sedation medicine which is amazing. So she's just
on the trezorone which should wear off in a couple hours but it's just going to kind of
make her chill like this. Kira's very concerned about her sister. We're all kind of concerned
about you. We didn't get the best news but we also didn't. Thanks loud truck. We also didn't
get the worst news if that makes sense. Emphasis 13. We know that she's had issues with her liver
for a really long time. So we did find out today. I went ahead to protect her from these crazy dogs
behind me. Okay dad came out here to wrangle this the psycho puppy.
So basically they did the x-ray. They did the ultrasound. The good news is
nothing is like all over the place. That's good news. They don't see anything in her chest or
anything like that. The not so great news is they did find a tumor on her liver. Other good news.
So as I was saying while the other dogs are still going crazy. Um they did find a tumor. The other
it's not great news of course. Good news is it does kind of give us answers of why her liver
levels have been so crazy. Other good news he was able to do a needle biopsy today and he didn't
even have to sedate her more than this. I mean look at her. She's so still. So they petted her
and she had a little needle biopsy done and they're gonna send that out but they said that'll
take like a week to get back and then that will tell us what type of tumor it is. There's a few
different types that we're hoping it is and I know it sounds weird to be hoping that a tumor is a
certain type of tumor. I'm never going to remember the name of them but they're liver tumors that
basically form in one lobe of the liver instead of like all over in a bunch of little tiny tumors.
We believe this is one big tumor. Not by big. I mean it's big but it's not huge. We're hoping
that because it's the one big that they can see she's probably gonna need a CT scan and all that
stuff as well. That if it's one of the two types that we're hoping it could be which again seems
weird to be hoping it's a certain type of tumor but we already know she has a tumor so that's
been confirmed. She would be able to have surgery and they would be able to remove it and most of
the time it from what Dr. Ryan said they live normal lives. She wouldn't even need chemo and
radiation if it ends up being the cancer kind. There's a cancerous one and a benign one so
either one still not great but we we might have options which is good. That's good news.
Don't freak out yet. Let me do the freaking out. You guys don't forget just let me just let me do
the freaking out. Jamie and I can do all of that for you. For real though I will have Dan put the
names of the tumors over here somewhere. Don't let me forget to send that to you Dan. Just so you guys
can kind of have an idea of what they are and if any of you have been through that before and your
dogs have had surgery leave a comment. Tell us your stories. What did you do? She is 13. The other
thing I want to tell you guys is age is not a disease so doing surgery on an older dog is not
necessarily something you just don't do because they're older. Now with Memphis we didn't want to
do surgery because of her liver levels but now that we know that this could all be happening
or is all happening because of a tumor in her liver surgery might be an option. You want to
hang out out here all day? Do you want to go back inside? Dr. Ryan did tell me that he would not be
able to do it. That we would have to go down to the Flint Surgical Center and for those of you that
have been around for a very long time. Something is yelling. Some bird is yelling. For those of you
that have been around for a very long time you may remember that we actually went down there for
Shelby to have surgery. Why does it sound like there's something? We might have to go figure
out what that screamy bird is doing. Oh don't stop them. Okay so anyway that's the news. Memphis is
all sleepy, extra sleepy. I should probably put her inside so she doesn't have to nap out here
although it is 63 degrees outside and beautiful and she is in the shade so that's the news. That's
what we know. Other news you guys have been asking and begging and wanting the Protect the Memphis
merch. We have Protect the Memphis merch. There's a QR code here you can scan it will take you to
our store. It is adorable and we love it and it was done by somebody who's done quite a few of our
designs. She's so tired. I gotta get her inside. So yes we do have Protect the Memphis merch. I know
you guys have been begging for it. I was gonna use the money from the Protect the Memphis merch to
buy her a PEMF mat but now it will all be going into the emergency vet fund for the dogs because
this if we do end up having to have surgery and a CT scan these things I know are very expensive.
The other thing is we do still have the GoFundMe for Memphis which I will link down below as well.
Please do not feel like you have to donate and then to any of you that are members of it or any
of you that want to become members all of the membership monies that come in to this channel
go directly to the dogs vet fund as well. So that's another way you can help offset the cost.
Again please don't feel like you have to do any of that. Memphis will be taken care of regardless.
It's bad news but also good news. I'm staying positive and I have high hopes. I have to go
figure out what is screaming over here. I can't find him but he's a squirrel or a chipmunk in this
tree. He's in there. I think he's all right. He's just loud and he's mad that the peanuts are empty.
What do you think? You look so sleepy. Would you like a treat? I know it's got medicines in it.
You're not supposed to know that part. It's actually just got one of her vitamins in it
that she doesn't like to take without the pill pocket. I just gave her one and she's like I
don't know mom maybe I don't want that. Yeah I know you didn't even want your breakfast which
that's okay. Yeah you can eat it when you're ready. Oh you ate that one? Good job. She's also
a little woogly from the trasidones. Here you're supposed to eat this. We're supposed to drop it on
the ground. Yeah eat that one. It's delicious. It's only got a little dirt on it now. You're
gonna spit that one out. She found the the zinc tablet in it and she's like no thank you no thank
you. You don't have to eat it. Come on let's go inside. Weevils. She's like uh weevil weevil wobbles
but don't fall down. Yeah I'll carry you up the steps or dad will. We'll get you inside and you
can nap in there. Look Jamie cleaned the door and there's the bird nest. That is so crazy. Can we
like put it in epoxy or something? They did use dog hair. There's a lot of dog hair in there.
That's not just baby bird feathers. There's dog hair in there.
And they flew the coop. They're gone. They're over there somewhere. Oh that's cool. Are you gonna take
it out of there? Oh yeah. Are we gonna spray the wreath down or should we toss it? It looks like
there's a nice little poop cone on the nest. Yeah we might be safe to just remove that and clean it
and be good. I'll let you make that decision. It's mostly plastic. Yeah so I'll let you make that
decision. If you think it's saveable, save it. If not, oh I can always get another one.
Oh that was a fun, that was a fun little section of our lives. A bird's nest. Did you, did you put
dog hair in the feeder for them? That's very nice. Makes their nests nice and warm.
All right going back in here to check on the girl. Checking in on the girlies.
I have girlie number one here. Hi. How you doing?
Eleanor's over here. And Memphis, you're awake. I see you. Hi. I went into the office to get some
stuff done and she laid down right here and this is where she stayed. It's nice and cool right here
in the dark. Probably feels pretty good too, huh? Yeah you ready to eat yet? She ate like three
bites of her breakfast and that was it. Which is pretty normal when she's on medication. She
doesn't like to eat. They said she was fine to do whatever today because she's just on the
trazodone but Memphis does not like drugs. You don't like drugs do you? No. So yeah. We're gonna
hope these biopsy results come back really fast so we can move on to the next steps, right?
I'm pooping you. Oh you're awake enough to pull away from that. Yeah you might be ready for lunch.
Oh she's definitely starting to... Hi Eleanor. She's definitely starting to feel better because
she wanted her breakfast. That's her breakfast. So I'm gonna try to hold her off for a couple
hours to eat her lunch a little bit late. She ate a couple bites of this when she got home but she
didn't want it. So the trazodone doesn't last in their system for super long. Hi Eleanor. I know
she's eating and you think you're supposed to be eating but you're not. It's 1 30. I know we'll
feed you again in a little bit. I'll let Memphis get some food in her belly. But she actually
wanted it so that was a good thing. Are you a little more awake now? Oh look at you. You're
like okay my stuff wore it off and oh I even get kisses. Oh thank you. Thank you. Jamie just took
off to go for a bike ride. Like I said I don't know if he's gonna film anything. I told him he
didn't have to. I said you just want to go have fun with your friends? Go have fun with your
friends. And I am working on listing the protect Memphis at all cost merch. That's what I'm gonna
do and make chicken wings. I'm gonna make chicken wing, chicken wing, hot dog and bologna, chicken and macaroni.
Stupid TikTok. You girls are shedding so bad because you got wet. Oh you're feeling good now
huh? They're like what are we doing? Are we doing something fun? I did just get permission from the
vet. I asked if oh excuse you Piggly Wiggly. I asked if we could still take Memphis on a short
camping trip not far from home and he said absolutely. You should still do all the same
things that you always do with her. So I think we might go camping next week with my mom and dad.
I think. Holy Grinch toes. Oh my goodness. Let me see. Let me see them Grinch toes.
Oh my goodness you're a mess. You're a mess. We're gonna take care of them Grinch toes
and give you a spa day. That's what we're gonna do and make chicken wings and get the merch listed
and feed you lunch. Are you hungry? I know you are. All right I will feed you yunch and start
making some chicken wings. Hey you made it. Are your legs a little jello-y too? Hey look
mountain bikes. Well Eric. Oh hey look there is an Eric. All right and he's like I'm fine.
This is great. There's another trail there. I don't know if we're gonna go that way right now
though. That looks inviting. Oh do we have somebody actually following? We do. All right.
Funny. Yeah. She's definitely feeling much better now that she ate. It is pretty outside.
Jamie just got back. I don't know if we're walking dogs or not. I guess it really depends on how
Memphis feels. Oh let's check the grasses. Let's go see what that looks like. It looks like...
Oh it's hard to tell. There's definitely clovers. Oh I do see some baby grasses in the clovers.
And then lots of those things. So there's some baby grasses. Oh there's more over there.
There's some. There's a lot of grass growing over here. There is. You can see it like coming up in
big. No for real. Come look closer. Closer. Closer. Look at how much grass is actually growing.
You can you can see it. There's big clumps of it all over the place. It's working. Look at over
there. You can see it. You can see all the little hairs. And look at it that way. All little hairs.
It's working hun. It's working. Oh Jamie look. The apple tree things opened. They were not open.
I was gonna say they were not open yesterday. We were just looking at these.
Well they're all supposed to kind of get to a certain temperature.
Where's she at? Hi Memphis. She's like I'm feeling better. Them drugs suck. They do suck don't they?
What? Yeah I know. Oh yeah. She's like yeah I don't like those. Oh so the flowers are opening.
Yeah. Nice. What are you eating? The really really tall grass. Eleanor quit eating salad.
She's like okay. Yeah it's growing. It's growing tall back here. Where you going Memphis?
I don't know. Checking things out. Let's see a happy face. I saw Memphis had a happy face.
Hi happy girl. Hi happy girl. Hi happy girl. How you doing? You feeling better? The drugs have
wore off. You feel a little bit better huh? She's like mom I could totally go for a W-A-R-K.
I think you could, but I don't want to overdo it today. You did a lot today. You had a very very
busy day. And I don't even know if I got the rest of the stuff. I didn't even look at it yet
her other blood levels and her blood work and stuff. I didn't even look at it yet.
Oh Memphis. Memphis. Memphis bale. I love you happy girl. She's like I'm pretty happy girl.
Chilling with your girl while the other girls are going crazy behind you. Literally crazy. She's
like oh that is amazing. And those two are like let's wrestle in the most. Whoa that was a good
one. Look out. She's smarter than you. Look out. Protect the girl. Oh my goodness. At all costs.
At all costs. What are you doing? There they go. Whoa look out. Look out. Look out. Look out. Okay
all right enough. If you're gonna run, run over there. I thought they were. I thought they were
too. No they're using us. You're using me and she's using the swing. Oh my goodness. I don't want to
get off the swing because Eleanor might jump on it. Look out. Look out. Look out. Don't you dare jump over
dad's arm. Go. Go on. Go. Go. Go. She's like I'm getting yelled at. She crazy Kira. She crazy.
Crazy. Yeah you crazy. Did you get it out of your system? I know. This is why we go for WA's
LK's in the evening because otherwise you're crazy. Don't step on Memphis.
Oh my goodness. She's like oh thanks. Thanks. I would totally take some attention.
You having fun Memphis? Laying in your happy spot in the shade? She's like heck yeah.
This is the life right here. This is the life. Laying in the shade. Don't jump and be crazy.
I'm gonna be able to catch him on video. Check him out. I don't know if that's our yard bunny
that made it out of the yard but that is such a tiny bunny. He's so little. Kira smelled him
before she saw him. Oops wrong button and I don't know if Eleanor sees him. Kira sees him.
You see that bunny? You see that little bunny out there? Memphis there's a bunny out here.
Do you want to come see him? I don't know. I was napping. Oh I can see him through the bushes now.
See him right there. He's so little. Oh go right there so we can see you buddy. Oh maybe he'll
come over here. We can see you even better. Stop. Don't scare him. I want him to keep running this
way so we can see him. He's behind the potted plant right there. I can... there he is. Kira I
see a reflection of me. Look at how little he is. He's so little. You're so tiny. Say hi bunny.
Hi baby bunny. Hi baby bunny. I don't know where he's going. There goes your bunny. Well I hope
that's... maybe it is the one living in the backyard because he came from that way. He's
over there now. Little baby bunny. It's time to go to bed. Let's go outside. Everybody run it.
It's uh pretty late. We're ready for bed. It's been a long day. It's been a long interesting
day. There's the moon. It's over there in the trees. Well it's not in the trees. It's behind
the tree. Find a spot Memphis? Do your thing so we can go to bed. I don't know what happened but
it got like really really windy out and it's way colder out than it was. That bunny might
still be under the shed. We don't know. Kira's back there right now. So it could still be there.
That's it? You're gonna go do nothing else? You're done? You're ready to go to bed? Okay.
All right you guys. Well I guess we're gonna go ahead and call it a night
because that's what we're gonna do. We're gonna call it a night, right? All right. I hope you
guys enjoyed today's video. As always thanks so much for watching. Thanks for subscribing. Stay
positive, green, big, and we will see you again soon. Send all the positive vibes. We're gonna
stay positive. We're gonna hope for the best. If everything is out of our control, that's all we
can do. Good night, buddies.
