Today we are taking you along on an incredible Michigan camping adventure with our dogs, Kira and Eleanor. We started the beautiful morning at camp where Kira had a hilarious standoff with a very brave red squirrel right on our picnic table! After getting the girls harnessed up and ready we took a long drive deep into bear and moose country to explore a place we have not visited in maybe 20 years. We drove way out on dirt roads until we finally reached the amazing trail head for Sturgeon Gorge Falls!

The hike down to the bottom of the gorge was definitely a challenge for me. We had to conquer a steep quarter mile switchback trail with a massive 300 foot elevation change! My knees were shaking near the trail ledges but Jamie and the dogs helped pull me through it. Once we made it to the bottom of Sturgeon Gorge Falls the view was absolutely stunning. It was like nature supplied its very own air conditioning right next to the roaring cold water.

Kira immediately dove belly deep into the freezing cold river water to chase leaves and Eleanor had a blast climbing all over the rocky riverbeds. We even checked out the Bear's Den Overlook to see the magnificent fall colors stretching across the Michigan wilderness. If you are looking for gorgeous hiking trails and hidden waterfalls in Michigan you definitely need to add this spot to your travel list! Life is short, Make memories with your dogs!
