From July 1 to August 2, Ukrainian units carried out a series of strikes targeting energy infrastructure. During this period, 177 energy-related targets were reportedly hit, highlighting the intensity and scale of operations conducted by Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces. The operation, dubbed “Crimean Switch Off,” was presented as a response to the occupation of Ukrainian territory and efforts by Russian forces to consolidate control over key infrastructure assets.
Over the past 72 hours, the campaign reportedly intensified, with 13 energy facilities struck. Among the targets were the energy infrastructure of the Zuivska Thermal Power Plant in the city of Zuhres, Donetsk region; the 330 kV Mirna electrical substation in Mariupol; and the 220 kV Azovska-220 substation in the same city.
The list of targeted facilities also included the 110 kV City-6, City-11, and City-2 substations in Mariupol. In addition, the 150 kV Henichesk substation in Kherson region was struck again in a repeat attack. In Zaporizhzhia region, the 110 kV Topolyne substation in Topolyne, the 110 kV Makorty substation in Berdiansk, the 110 kV Volodarska substation in Nikolske, and another electrical substation in Berdiansk were reportedly disabled. In Kherson region, the 150 kV Novooleksiivka substation and another 150 kV Henichesk substation were also targeted. According to Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, the strikes resulted in blackouts affecting several major energy facilities. He stated that the Zuivska Thermal Power Plant, three substations in Mariupol, one in Henichesk, and two in Berdiansk remained without power. The attacks are described as part of a broader strategy aimed at disrupting the occupiers’ ability to maintain infrastructure and logistics networks in territories under Russian control.
