Explosions rocked Ufa, a city in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia , on the morning of Saturday, August 1. The Telegram monitoring channel Exilenova+ reported drone strikes on an oil refinery. Ufa is located roughly 1,300 to 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The deep-strike operation occurred during waves of intensive cross-border drone activity. Footage published online shows multiple fires visible in the Russian city. Exilenova+ notes that Ufa is home to three major oil refineries. It is currently unknown which of them was hit by the drone. On the morning of August 1, Rosaviatsiya announced that Ufa Airport had imposed restrictions on aircraft landings and departures due to the drone threat. Local Telegram channels reported explosions in the Russian city.
The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country reported that overnight, Russian air defense allegedly "intercepted" 274 UAVs over 16 regions of the Russian Federation and over Crimea.
Ukraine has attacked eight of Russia's ten largest oil refineries. Some of them have come under attack more than once.
In particular, on the night of June 28, drones struck an oil refinery in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban in Russia's Krasnodar region. A series of powerful explosions was heard in the area of the Slavyansk oil refinery, after which a large fire broke out at the facility.
It is known that at least several petroleum product storage tanks caught fire.
