The fighting for Konstantinovka in the Donetsk region is gradually entering its final phase, where holding individual districts or establishing stable control is practically no longer an option. A soldier with the call sign "Muchnoy" reported this on Telegram .
He emphasized that the situation in the Konstantinovka sector continues to rapidly deteriorate. According to him, in Konstantinovka, a grueling battle continues in the urban area, where every house, street, and block can change hands several times a day. "This is more of a war of attrition, in which the main goal is to dislodge the enemy from their positions rather than to form a solid defensive line," Muchnoy noted.
According to him, there are serious logistics problems – there are virtually no reliable supply routes left, and any personnel movement or evacuation of the wounded is extremely risky. "Even unmanned systems, which previously partially offset the supply difficulties, are operating significantly less effectively. Due to the dense electronic warfare and counter-UAV systems in the area, the enemy regularly intercepts or destroys our drones before they reach their targets, which negatively impacts both reconnaissance and the delivery of critical resources," the military officer explained. According to him, another serious problem is the unprecedented concentration of enemy FPV drones, so any movement, even along relatively protected routes, is quickly detected and becomes a target for strikes. "This significantly limits the ability to maneuver, rotate, and even demonstrate a physical presence in certain areas, making it even more difficult to maintain positions in urban areas," the military officer said. According to him, the main intensity of the fighting is gradually shifting from the Novoselovka microdistrict toward Osikovo and the outskirts of Alekseevo-Druzhkovka. He added that it is there that the enemy is attempting to increase the pressure, exploiting its superior numbers of attack drones and constant firepower against logistics and our positions. As reported, Russia spent more than a year advancing on Konstantinovka , but was unable to establish full control over it, despite the Kremlin's claim that it had been captured.
CNN noted that on July 3, the Russian Ministry of Defense released a video showing Russian troops in various parts of central Kostyantynivka, claiming the city was completely occupied. However, journalists note that this claim is untrue. It is refuted by testimony from Ukrainian soldiers, geolocation of the videos, and maps from independent analysts at DeepState, which show that Russian forces are merely attempting to advance deeper into the city.
The authors of the article recall that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the Kremlin's statement by proposing to Vladimir Putin to hold peace talks directly in Konstantinovka, if it is indeed under Russian control.
