Life in temporarily occupied Crimea, including in Yalta, one of the peninsula's once main resorts, has steadily worsened since the arrival of Russian occupiers, and has recently become simply unbearable, a consequence of the Kremlin's full-scale war against Ukraine. Crimea is currently experiencing catastrophic problems with electricity and water supplies for the population, as well as a fuel shortage. For example, in Yalta, as of July 24, there has been no electricity for three days. Power doesn't come on for even a few hours, and the occupation administration can't tell people when the situation will improve. Local residents are reporting this, posting videos on social media describing the current situation in the city.
"Today is July 24th. Our situation remains the same. We have no water, no electricity. Water is provided from 7 to 10 so we can collect it and do our laundry, but there's been no electricity for three days now, at zero," says the author of one such video. Due to the power outage, the vast majority of businesses are out of business. Only a few are trying to stay open, relying on generators for power. "We don't know when the power will be back on. There's no information," the video's author added.
Journalist Denis Kazansky commented on a post by Russian Z-blogger "Insider ZOV," who complained about rising crime and lawlessness in occupied Donetsk. According to Kazansky, the blogger is trying to blame Ukraine for what is happening, but nothing like this had happened in the city before the Russian occupation. "Until you were in Donetsk, nothing like this happened there, and people weren't kidnapped on the streets. Despite the notoriety of the 1990s, by 2013, Donetsk was a calm and safe city. No one could have imagined that people would be kidnapped, tortured, and killed without any consequences ," Kazansky wrote. He also stated that the current situation is not a consequence of a lack of control on the part of Moscow, but, on the contrary, of the system of governance it has established. The comment was prompted by a post by the Z blogger "Insider ZOV," who criticized the illegal leadership of the occupied Donbas. According to him, "complete banditry" is thriving in the region, and the so-called "authorities" are incapable of maintaining order. The blogger claims that people are allegedly being kidnapped right in the city center. He called on Moscow to pay attention to the situation and replace the region's leadership if it is unable to restore order.
One of Russia's leading Z-war correspondents, Alexander Sladkov, advised his followers to forget about the seizure of Ukrainian Odessa. The propagandist responded emotionally to a subscriber's question about when to expect the Russian Armed Forces to advance on Odessa and create a land corridor to the unrecognized Transnistria. "Who's going to attack? Well, who's going to attack? Right now, there's no one to attack with. We're perfectly capable of carrying out the tasks associated with a limited-target offensive, as we're doing now. To attack, we need good, large forces that will cover the flanks as the group enters Odessa, control the territory, clear it, saturate it with air defense assets, build new lines of communication to the front line, and advance firepower there... There's a whole story there. And behind that story, there must be people from various military specialties. I don't think we have them," stated the Z-war correspondent.
