Russian occupiers on the front lines in Ukraine have begun to face catastrophic fuel supply disruptions and restrictions on its use following a series of successful Ukrainian attacks on Russia's fuel infrastructure. This was reported by Verstka, citing the words of several occupiers from among the mobilized and contract soldiers. They say the problems concern not only refueling personal vehicles and generators, but also military equipment itself. Thus, one of the occupiers describes the situation with gasoline as "catastrophic" and points out that there is not enough fuel even to refuel military equipment. According to him, fuel was previously distributed in the quantities necessary to complete assigned tasks. Now, a limit has been set: no more than 20 liters per vehicle per day. Other occupiers are reporting similar information. One estimates the reduction in volumes at approximately 30%, including for combat vehicles. Another occupier fighting in the Zaporizhia sector reported a reduction in gasoline deliveries directly to the front lines. According to him, while previously around 20 liters of fuel were delivered, the amount is now between 10 and 15 liters.
Over the past two months, Ukrainian drones have halted up to 40% of Russia's oil refining capacity, and a third of the country has been left without fuel. The fuel crisis has affected 50 million citizens of the aggressor country.
At the same time, Russian leader Vladimir Putin acknowledged the existence of supply problems but stated that the situation, in his words, is not critical. Putin admitted that Ukrainian strikes on the Russian energy infrastructure have an impact. He said that Russia is seeing some shortages, but not critical ones.
"As for strikes on critically important infrastructure, particularly energy infrastructure, these strikes are creating problems. That is obvious," Putin said. The first task outlined by the Russian leader in response to Ukrainian actions is to rapidly increase production of air defense systems. He acknowledged that Ukraine is receiving new drones with advanced technologies from European partners.
"The first task is to quickly and significantly increase production of the most in-demand air defense systems. Continuously improve them in line with the needs of combat operations," Putin said.
He also noted that Russia needs to exit repairs faster and establish the necessary level of imports. One of the most notable admissions concerned Crimea. Putin said the monthly energy supply needs of the occupied peninsula are around 70,000 tons, but current reserves would last only a few days.
"In Crimea, there are currently reserves for a few days, but needs will be met. We will increase supplies both by land and sea. I believe this task will be solved," he said.
Putin also claimed that Ukrainian strikes are not just military operations but part of an alleged information operation against Russia.
According to him, the goal of the attacks is to sow uncertainty among Russians, create internal divisions, and force Moscow to halt its offensive to negotiate on terms favorable to the opponent. "We will not allow such a chance," he said.
In addition, Russia is already taking gasoline from Belarus that was destined for Central Asian countries. However, even record volumes of such supplies do not make it possible to fully eliminate the shortage.
