An MLB insider has revealed a new trade target
for the New York Yankees as the Yankees have
long been infatuated with a player
who would give them such an insane fielding upgrade
at center field.
While Brian Cashman also gets to focus
on spending money elsewhere, this is the deal
that, yes, would move Spencer Jones to a different position,
not being a center fielder, but
at the same time, also help the Yankees have continued cheap contracts.
It very much speaks on the future of Trent Grisham
with the Yankees or, well, without
the Yankees as well and where everything
is for the Yankees regarding their offseason and the
fact that they do want to add a lot more talent
to this team than they have had because they did
not upgrade their offense whatsoever last year returning
with the same guys the only changes
being rookies and now the Yankees they're
in a spot where they can make a big move for a player
who really would be super helpful for the team
and diving into that guys make sure to go ahead
and subscribe to the channel if you are part
of that 66 percent that is not subscribed it is completely
free to do we have videos coming out every single day guys
and we are going to break down all the
latest news because guys i recently talked about Luis Arraez
and him as an option for the yankees
that they will go for and one of our comments
of the day today by snuffy ballparks 6501 saying
that Luis Arraez is fool's gold because
though he was a decent second baseman this season he's
actually better he was very good fielding
at second base he has not been good for the majority
of his career there and his arm does limit him to second
or first base so the yankees should look at
third base a catcher and a good defensive center fielder well there's
not too many center fielders
who are good at defense
and better than Jacob Young Jacob Young is an excellent center fielder
who the new york yankees have had reported interest
in as young has drawn renewed yankees
discussions recently MLB trade rumors mentioned
the Yankees have shown past interest in Jacob
Young and then we saw that continue to grow
as Joel Sherman did report past Yankees interest
there's an offseason pursuit that is very possible
and obviously there's no agreed trade or even
reported asking price right now
but it is something the Yankees would have that would be helpful
because he gives them really good defense
at center field he gives them incredible speed
outfield flexibility and a complementary role rather than
a star replacement at the same time
this does allow the Yankees to move Spencer Jones to right field
so Aaron Judge can DH more often
days when Ben Rice is playing first Judge can DH
and he does not have to play the outfield every
single year anymore anymore
which obviously does certainly concern people at this point it's been a
few years now he's getting older and we knew his time
in the outfield was not going to be that much
longer and he'll still be out there a bit
but I do think because of the injuries he's faced over
the last couple of years the Yankees will
be a little bit careful with Aaron Judge and his outfield
time a lot next year and going forwards now Jacob Young
was and perhaps could be again on the
Yankees roster as Sherman mentioned
and because of that it does open up the door for some trade
debate because we look at this and right now does
the glove justify a trade what role would he fill
and what price would be too much for Jacob Young all
of these are questions that we do have to see
get answered right now as far as Jacob Young goes I mean
this is a guy overall who really when it
comes down to it he has been a super talented player
in the past especially defensively
where um you just want to see Jacob Young be able to get out there
and be able to be someone who
really really can actually give the Yankees something
and on top of that be someone who
they would play a lot because center field
was a weak defensive position Trent Grisham is not a
good center fielder anymore when it comes to fielding at all
which was certainly problematic
for the Yankees and I mean Cody Bellinger is a very good fielder
and Aaron Judge is a good fielder
as well but again he's getting older Spencer Jones
is going to grow into one but outside of that they
don't have a ton of great fielding in the outfield
but Young he changes that coming off of a season
where he had a .252 batting average and a .707 OPS,
he would be someone the Yankees would put towards
the back end of their batting order.
But with the great defense
and the fact that he is such a good base runner,
he would give the Yankees someone
who they should really take a nice look at.
They've been interested in him before.
And again, they could use the fielding.
The batting average is not bad.
It's good enough where you put him as a 7.89 hole hitter.
And for the Yankees, that's who you want at the 7.89.
Not guys like Ryan McMahon and Austin Wells,
who were not getting hits until Wells was at the end of the year.
was good it's really good fact but uh before that like having guys
who feel like automatic outs at
789 you get young there he's not an automatic out he's someone
who certainly can get on base it's
just not what he is best at which is something
the Yankees obviously would benefit from getting
that defense and getting someone like that who would
be able to take over right there and play
a good position I mean Young right now the 2026 stats
do define his value in a very very big way
overall again the numbers do show that across
the board he was good at stealing the bases and
overall he's someone who I do really like the idea of I mean
when you count the numbers overall
106 hits 22 doubles he get he rounds
the bases he had three triples the man can run like the
absolute wind as well which obviously is what you want
to see out of a guy the Yankees would be
going for because obviously small ball has
been killing the Yankees in recent years Young would
help the Yankees kind of figure that out a little bit
and also Young gives him a guy who the Yankees
really can trust in a lot of different areas I mean overall
is he a bad hitter no he's just not
there for that however the fielding run value
the hitting run value stuff like that that would give
the Yankees a really good chance at getting better
and playing a bit more small ball and getting a
guy another guy who can run the bases
which they have a few of now it's not like years past where
They had no base runners outside
of guys they could bring off the bench.
But they like Jose Caballero off the bench.
You have Spencer Jones who can run the base as well.
And then between Jones, Bellinger, and Young,
the defense and speed is so good in that outfield.
It's a move that just makes so much sense for the Yankees right now.
I mean, we look at his baseball savant numbers right here.
Right now, the run value when it comes to the base running run value
and then also the pitching run value, or pitching, excuse me,
the fielding run value are both so high.
Base running in 84th percentile, fielding in the 89th percentile,
batting run value around league average of 47%.
I mean, the glove as good as possible,
100th percentile and that's above average.
He's really, really someone
who would help the Yankees in the area where they need it most.
It's just something that's important,
especially when he does have an improving bat.
I mean, his average went up to 252 this last year in a 707 OPS,
but in 2025, he wasn't hitting effectively.
He was hitting like the guys who are towards the back end.
The base running does help.
Again, he had 18 steals in the 22 attempts.
He gives him a pinch runner.
And again, it just helps adding another great athlete to this team
when they certainly need it.
When they need a guy with a glove, he comes in.
11 outs above average is insanely good.
It's in the 100th percentile of the league.
He has real established center field experience.
The Yankees need that because their
center fielder right now, Spencer Jones,
doesn't have a ton of experience playing center field at the MLB
because, well, he was a rookie half of the season last year.
So this gives the Yankees a guy to defend.
Now, one of the other comments of the day that we saw
is why has Rice become only an offensive player?
He can catch, he can play first.
He can't get any better at those defensive positions
if he doesn't get a chance to play behind the plate
or at first.
I just don't understand why Rice isn't starting catcher
with Wells backing up.
Well, he's not catching because the hitting is too important
that they're not going to try to make him catch.
Catching is exhausting.
It takes a lot out of you.
There's a reason why there's a lot of catchers
who are not good hitters.
well with Rice he should be playing more first base
and if he does it opens up the Yankees to
make a trade for Young, move Jones to right, move Bellinger to left
and have when that happens
it or not move Bellinger
to left, keep Bellinger left, what happens? It allows Aaron Judge to
play more DH which is obviously just a big part of this deal as well
which is something that we
would want to see, I mean right now we do know
that New York has been showing interest for a while
He's got 49 outs above average since 2023,
so they certainly do have a really nice chance right there.
And I know Helio Ramos is still around, but still with the Yankees,
I think Young is certainly an upgrade.
Now, again, this is the core of the trade to me.
It gives Aaron Judge more opportunities at DH,
which I think is the way the Yankees should start to be moving.
I think that is the best possible move for the Yankees right now.
We see right here from Mike Salvatore, 10,
that the Yankees bring Isaac Paredes
and Jacob Young to the Bronx next year
would be a pretty good offseason.
So I do want to know from you guys, should the Yankees trade for him?
Say, comment if yes, defense matters.
B, only at a low price.
Or C, prioritize another need maybe
I mean, this does not stop them from going for third base.
Young does not cost a lot of money.
They could still pay for a third base.
But if they want to, it just makes sense.
But guys, what do you think?

Have a great day, and go Yankees.
I didn't stop recording, darn it.
