This is INSANE... Red Sox ALL-IN on SUPERSTAR | Boston Red Sox News
Oct 23, 2026
This is insane.
We just got new information about what Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is looking
for via contract this
up-and-coming offseason.
And well, John Henry, in order to get that cigar
and smoke it again, you're going to
have to get deep into those pockets in order to go out
and acquire the young Vladimir Guerrero
Jr., and I'm here to break down everything about it.
So let's get to it, but first remember,
if you are a part of the 86.5% currently watching
this video not currently subscribed scroll down
and click the subscribe button we do appreciate
all the love and support so thank you guys
but now let's get to it and break down not only how
this is insane but how Vlad Guerrero Jr
is basically telling the entire MLB specifically
the Blue Jays to bring me
my money now i will say there's two things that are very very key
in this conversation the first one
is this is a contract year for for Vladimir Guerrero Jr
anticipate him to be in the running for the MVP
at the end of the year I believe he is going to
grow on a tear and he is going to annihilate baseballs
from game one to game 162 he wants
to prove his absolute every penny's worth of his worth
to not only the Blue Jays but all the teams
in the MLB so it's not because at the end of this year he
is going to be an unrestricted free agent
He is going to cause an all-out bidding war amongst teams
that want that first baseman in Guerrero Jr.
And what team isn't going to want him?
He's a stud.
He's young.
He's in a class of a very, very few of baseball players.
Look at this baseball savant page.
Ranking in the top percentile of damn near everything.
Obviously, the chase rate is right about a league average.
Obviously, his sweet spot is right about a league average.
but everything else and obviously
the range fielding isn't great but again that's why he's
at first he's not at third he's nowhere else he's
not in the outfield he's there's no relying on
moving so fast in the sense of range in the sense
of covering a lot of ground like an outfielder
the speed is right about league average
which again is pretty damn good for someone the size
of Vladimir Guerrero Jr and again a first baseman obviously
the base running value is poor because
he doesn't steal really any bags he just hits very very very well
and if you look at the spray
chart in the top right he's not a pull hitter he'll hit
the baseball anywhere in the ballpark
and he he doesn't discriminate he'll hit it anywhere he wants
and again if you look at the
batting run value that's absurd that is that's absurd
that's in the same class of team or players
like Aaron Judge like Rafael Devers
and others Jose Ramirez if you will the this is an elite
ball player and there's really
no you can't sugarcoat it any other way you can't say he's not
he's damn good and he he's going to get paid
but is he going to get paid for 15 years in just under
600 million dollars as reported by ESPN
this graphic posted by Foul Territory on Twitter
this is crazy this is drastic now the conversation is all
and this is one of the this is the second
thing the second component to the conversation
the first one it being obviously a contract year
for Vladdy, anticipate him
to de-stitch baseball after baseball after baseball this season
because, well, he's trying again to prove
to not only the Blue Jays, but every team
in the MLB that has the opportunity to go out
and acquire him after this following season
that, well, you're going to have to pay me and there's no way,
there's no way around
that.
Now, I will say you can credit Mr. Juan Soto for this happening.
Now, this is what Juan Soto's contract looks like.
This is absurd.
And if you look in the top right corner, 15 years,
$765 million, and with all of the components
going into this contract, it rounds out to $805,
at least closer to $805 million over
this tenure if he does not opt out of the contract in New York.
This is insane.
But again, Vlad Guerrero wanting roughly 15 years
and close to $600 million, it says less
than $600 million in the report, and it's not only foul territory.
obviously the two main sources coming from or coming out
of ESPN I'm sorry I do not know their
names off the top of my head but again as well as Jeff Passan
and other credible insiders and
and analysts if you will
also it was labeled the same way 15 years less than 600 million
so again he wants a lot of money the AAV is going to be way way up
and again for 15 years he wants
to be taken care of for a long long time I'm
assuming he's looking for opt-outs as well
just like the Juan Soto contract again it's going
to be very interesting to see how this all plays
out to see if obviously Vlad did not get
the extension really any extension with the Blue
Jays this season so he is going to hit the free agency market
but again what is that going to
look like this is the last year obviously it'll
be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this
year in the 2026 season in his age 27 season
and again if he comes out in his Baseball Savant page
and his statistics look anything close
to what they have been for the last year
or really the entirety of his career, he's going to get paid.
Whether it's the Red Sox, whether it's the Blue Jays,
the Yankees, the Dodgers, Texas,
you name the team, if you land this player, you are going to pay him.
Now, he's asking for that type of structure
and that type of really commitment
and really just being taken care of to that extent.
I can't think of like he wants to be taken care
of for so long he doesn't he wants to just you
know be a part of this organization for so long at 15 years
because he doesn't want to deal with
the contract negotiations he doesn't want to deal
with packing up his stuff and moving over and over
again and again last year he posted a 6.2 WAR
that's insane he's a first baseman that is absolutely
insane again multiple time all-star multiple time runner for the MVP
and again it's well deserved
He has had just phenomenal season after phenomenal season.
Obviously, last year, in the sense of home run production,
wasn't as good as you were really anticipating.
RBIs, he still hit 103, which is great.
But again, like 45 and 110, 45 home runs, 110 RBIs,
is not a crazy prediction for this young man.
He is flat out phenomenal at the game of baseball.
It's really hard
to fathom him expecting anything less than what he's asking for.
But again, 15 years, that high, high,
high AAV is going to be ridiculous.
And I will say, if we look at the Boston Red
Sox current roster and really the biggest
contract we have available,
this would obviously surpass Rafael Devers' 10-year, $315.5
million contract.
But obviously, Bregman's getting $40 million a year.
The AAV is way up.
But again, that is what was required to go out
and acquire someone like Alex Bregman.
And in order for us to go out and get Vlad Guerrero,
we're going to obviously have
to offer him something close to 12 to 15 years in length.
And then obviously the amount of money in totality is probably going to
be close to $625 million, especially if Vlad Guerrero comes out here,
puts up a year just like this one that we see last year
on Baseball Savant, where he is in a class of very, very few.
And again, the statistical production is out of this world.
And again, he is one of the best hitters classified
as one of the best hitters in all of baseball.
Again, he's going to get paid.
And I understand this money is unfathomable.
But again, if you understand that this young man is Juan Soto,
who if we compare baseball to not paid,
if we compare overall production, is Vlad really out
of pocket for coming out and asking for this much money?
So if we want to see Vlad Guerrero in a Red Sox uniform,
John Henry is going to have to get down deep in those pockets.
And after you sign him, you're not just smoking one cigar.
You're smoking a whole lot more
because there's a good chance that Vlad is going to push the needle.
Casas, obviously, if we can bring in Vlad, I'm okay with moving Casas.
I understand Casas has a lot of upside.
He's a great young talent.
So is Vlad Guerrero.
And he's been there.
He's proved it.
He showed his absolute worth
and his absolute value in how he is sitting at the top of the
league when it comes to the overall position ranks at first base.
Again, it would be very interesting.
I can't wait to see how this all plays out.
I will quickly highlight this before this video ends.
Peter Apple, I'm sorry if I'm saying that wrong,
Appel, he works for Just Baseball.
He produces content, great content.
He proposed the idea that what if the Blue Jays decide to go to Vlad?
And I know this is a long shot.
I understand that.
But the idea is awesome to think about.
What if the Blue Jays go to Vlad and they go,
hey, we're going to trade you at the deadline.
If they try to extend you, the team that trades for you
is not going to really hope to extend you right when they get you.
Well, if they might hope to, but again, there's a very small chance
that they will because of the number you're asking for.
So you'll make it to free agency.
When you get to free agency, you'll cause a bidding war.
in the exchange of us trading to a team we will not only reset our team
but we will reset our
farm system because of the overall value that you maintain
but then once you decline or not
decline but once you get to the free agency period
because the team that acquires you via trade does
not give you the extension or the money
or the years that you're looking for and you get the
free agency and you cause an all-out bidding war we're going
to come out here and we're going to
offer you that 15th of 650 million dollars
and we're going to acquire you so not only are we
going to trade you in late July at the last point we possibly can
and get a king's ransom times three
for you to reset our ball club
and also build around Santander and Bo Bichette but then we are
then once you get to free agency we're
then going to go back out there and we are going to reacquire
you via via a monstrous contract
and bring you back to a loaded Blue Jays team that's just
something they were I heard about again
by the Just Baseball guys by Peter that was awesome to
think about and wrap your head around
and just be creative with for a few minutes but again I don't
know how this is going to play out Vlad is asking for a whole lot
and again if he comes out here and
wins an MVP and he de-stitches baseball after baseball for 162 games
and he leads the league
in home runs he has 110 RBIs he gets 50 doubles he
his OPS is a thousand like he's going to get
paid that money because again he's so young he has
so much upside and the production levels are so
damn high year after year let me know down below
what you guys think about this entire situation
and his entire asking point from Vlad
and I will see you guys on the next episode of Red Sox Digest
