Prominent Russian Z-blogger Maxim Kalashnikov revealed an inconvenient truth for Moscow. He acknowledged that Ukrainian forces are actively advancing in the Sumy direction and are engaged in heavy fighting for the villages of Loknya and Yunakovka.

According to him, information about the situation is coming directly from sources on the front. However, there has been no public information about this Ukrainian offensive until now. Kalashnikov noted that military operations are taking place near the border with Russia's Kursk Oblast. He also mentioned Sverdlikovo, which is already located in the Kursk Oblast, as it could end up in the combat zone. According to the propagandist, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are employing a proven drone-assault tactic. First, UAVs gain air superiority at low altitudes, destroy Russian positions, and open the way for Ukrainian infantry, which then clears the area and takes up positions.

At the same time, Ukrainian Defense Forces have begun using ground-based robotic systems to assault Russian occupier positions. One such attack was demonstrated by the occupiers themselves. The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an assault using the Ukrainian People's Liberation Army in the Liman sector, which has been one of the most heated areas of the front for many months. In the summer of 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched Operation Vivaldi there, which was carried out in several stages. By October, Ukrainian forces in the Liman sector had liberated 277 square kilometers of territory and 16 settlements. Russian occupiers claim that 28 vehicles participated in the attack on Ukrainian ground robotic systems near Lyman. Most of the Ukrainian ground robotic systems were equipped with automatic grenade launchers. Kamikaze robots also participated in the assault.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces operate several different types of domestic and foreign ground robotic systems. They are increasingly being used in combat against the Russian occupiers. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the number of ground robotic systems missions has increased 3.3-fold since the beginning of 2026. While Ukrainian ground robotic systems carried out 7,511 combat missions in January 2026, the figure for August was 25,143.
