While it's currently impossible to destroy all Russian oil refineries , Ukraine's technological capabilities allow it to disrupt the Russian oil refining industry with repeated strikes. At the same time, Ukrainian strikes have become more precise. Aviation expert Konstantin Krivolap reported this on the program "Fabrika Novostey ."
He recalled that the Trump administration had asked or pressured Ukraine to stop striking Russian oil refineries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in turn, proposed that the Ukrainian Defense Forces cease such strikes on the condition that the United States provide Ukraine with interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defense systems to defend against Russian attacks. However, the United States did not provide Ukraine with additional missiles. "We did not receive any additional missiles," Krivolap noted. Thus, attacks on Russian oil refineries were resumed. "It's impossible to completely destroy it. We can, through constant strikes, disrupt the transportation and production of diesel fuel, and indeed all petroleum products, which would cause a logistical collapse in Russia. We can do that. And we are doing it. But to destroy everything—we don't have the quantity or the weapons. That's very difficult," Krivolap noted. An expert confirmed that Ukrainian strikes have become more accurate. As Krivolap noted, the guidance systems of the weapons used to strike the oil refineries have been improved.
"We're doing everything we can to ensure our drones fly in FPV mode—so they can see what they're doing. It's not an easy task. The Russians are constantly pushing back, but all these mobile phone outages in Russia are related to our capabilities. But that doesn't save them. They're taking various measures to prevent us from having such capabilities," Krivolap said.
He added that, unlike in previous periods, the Ukrainian Defense Forces now launch drones not by coordinates, but by targeting them directly. This targeting is also accomplished using artificial intelligence. As reported, drones attacked the Russian city of Ryazan on the night of November 5. Several fires were recorded at the Ryazan Oil Refinery.
On the night of November 3, drones attacked the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery . At least three fires were visible on the Slavneft-YANOS premises. On the night of November 1, the LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Kstovo sustained significant damage.
