We're continuing to track scattered wet weather across Long Island
as we head into this Friday evening roads
are still wet from the earlier heavy rain.
Right now, a lot of the rain across Long Island is really just
on the light to moderate side and it's off and on. Still can't rule out
a couple of downpours into the early evening hours, though.
Finally seeing some more steady rain break out again
for parts of the south shore and over towards Nassau County
and southern Suffolk County over towards West Babylon and Islip
So we're certainly still in and out of the rain.
It's just not a steady rain as we go throughout the road
Rest of today. In fact, as we go into the mid evening,
we will still start to notice the back edge of the rain start
to move in from west to east after around eight o'clock.
But until that happens, use caution traveling roads are wet.
There are wet leaves around so travel is still slick with some
minor street flooding in spots, especially over eastern Suffolk,
where you picked up three to four inches of rain already.
But we're kind of in and out of these showers and an isolated
downpour up and through around seven or eight o'clock this evening.
And then after that, we are tapering the rain off,
maybe some lingering showers up and through around
10 or 11 o'clock just for the East End,
but the rest of Long Island will start
to get into some partial clearing
during the mid to late evening hours,
and that will set the stage for some nicer weather
as we go into the upcoming weekend.
So in terms of additional rainfall amounts
on top of the already three, four inches in spots
like out towards eastern Suffolk County,
you can pick up another half inch to an inch there.
The rest of Long Island, around a quarter of an inch
or even less from this point forward.
But again, travel conditions remain wet.
And slick with the wet leaves and certainly from all the earlier rain.
So you should use some caution.
So mid-50s overnight tonight.
Showers are ending this evening.
Some partial clearing into early on Saturday morning.
And it's a nice day on Saturday.
Just can't rule out a little spotty shower during
the middle part of the day.
Temperatures in the mid-60s with a mix of sun and clouds.
And it will be a little bit on the breezy side as well.
Same on Sunday.
But Sunday's completely dry, sun and clouds.
Next week on Monday, it's windier Monday
and Tuesday with some wind gusts around 30 miles per hour.
Our Veterans Day looks nice.
That's nice, but check out the end of next week,
some of our chilliest air of the season
yet potentially, with highs only in the 40s to start next weekend.
