Good morning. Welcome to your Friday.
I'm meteorologist Cody Mattson. Look at that forecast.
We finally hit the freeze mark officially in the Twin Cities.
Third latest first fall freeze on record.
Getting to 31 as I record this.
Admittedly, maybe a little colder, especially for some of the burbs.
But only 1900 and 2016 had later first fall freezes.
into that fall season. We may do it again later tonight
into early Saturday morning as we're in a cooler pattern overall.
Area low pressure scooting by.
There is still some cloud cover across the Dakotas,
Nebraska, even southwestern Minnesota.
Some of that will attempt to migrate back eastward as we get through
the next couple of days, but should be brighter conditions overall.
Just may see some occasional cloudiness.
That will, of course, include our Friday.
More sun the farther east you go.
We're pretty calm overall. In fact,
not much of a breeze pretty much all day long.
So pretty decent day. Seasonable temperatures
in the forties before a few clouds drift through this evening
and tonight that may keep temperatures overnight just a little warmer,
mostly frozen, but just a little warmer.
And then by Saturday afternoon,
just a little bit of a southwest breeze.
Some occasional passing high clouds should be a pretty decent day.
Temperatures will be warming. A lot of us will
be in the fifties Saturday and then some solid fifties.
Even some pocket low 60s in some cases as we get into the day on Sunday
with plenty of sunshine and just a little bit of a western breeze.
For your Friday, widespread 40s, a bit of cloud cover,
especially as you get towards the Dakotas
and parts of southwestern Minnesota,
but mostly sunny conditions for the rest of us.
40s area-wide, 45 here in the Twin Cities.
We're back frozen for the most part tonight.
Some pocket 20s where we managed to stay clear enough.
There will be some zones that probably stay just above freezing
that can hang on to some cloud cover,
but it's anyone's guess where that ends up.
So basically be borderline frozen here in the metro.
And then for your Saturday, partly cloudy skies.
We'll see some high level clouds and maybe technically cloudy at times,
but it's more of a filtered sunshine than anything.
Temperatures should be going up, going for a 52 on your Saturday.
Mid to borderline upper 50s on Sunday.
We're going to try to make a run at 60 as we get into early next week.
But notice above average temperatures,
not a drop of moisture in the forecast.
