Gwinnett County school keeps polling open late

All right, good evening everybody. I want to give an update on turnout. Right now, election day turnout is nearing 1.1 million voters for election day. Absentee ballots accepted is right around 136,000. That brings total turnout when you include in-person advanced voting to around 3.9 million, which is about 52 percent of total active voters in the state. A couple of updates. Mitchell County, as we've talked about a few times today, has one location that is the Pelham Precinct that is staying open until 7:13 p.m. Gwinnett County has one location, Rockbridge Elementary School, that's Precinct 21, staying open until 7:07 p.m. Our wait time today, as of the last hour, is still right around about five minutes statewide on average. And then we do have one location in Brooks County, want to provide an update. There was about one hour where they lost power, but their poll workers pivoted to their emergency backup procedures and continued voting. So there was no disruption there to the voting process. That was Barwick Community Center in Brooks County. That's the updates that I have. Our county election officials are continuing to do a good job. It is 5:13, so we've got an hour and 47 minutes until the majority of polls close, except for those two that I mentioned at 7 o'clock, and then we'll start seeing results come in fairly quickly after that. Question? With no delays at the polls, does this mean that counties will be able to count ballots more rapidly than if they did have to wait for the polls to stay open? It's a very positive sign that we have seen very few delays, especially only two out of... A little over 2,100 locations in the entire state, and so that does lend itself to very quick results after the polls close. And so we do have the law in place that says that all advanced voting votes and also absentee ballots received by yesterday has to be reported by 8 p.m. or within one hour after the last polls close. And so the vast majority will be uploaded by 8 p.m. That's it. Our election officials are doing a good job. Thank you all very much. We'll be back in a few hours for another update. Thank you all.
