All right, we just played you with some sound from earlier today,
but happening right now live,
our Secretary of State is speaking.
So let's take a listen to what he is saying right now.
That's really important.
So right now, I want to get you up where we are. Right now,
we're about 775,000 folks that have voted around 2.30,
just a few minutes ago.
And I want to kind of advise people,
a few voters that have reported misleading text
messages circling today, and so as a reminder, be vigilant.
You can trust mvp.myvoterpage.sos.ga.gov to have
the most accurate information about elections.
Rock Ridge Elementary in Gwinnett,
they closed for under seven, for under 10 minutes,
it's actually seven minutes, due to a school safety drill.
I don't write this stuff,
it just kind of happens, but it is what it is.
So a judge will decide if that location should stay open later,
but that would not affect the reporting times tonight,
where all the early ballots would still need to be reported by 8 p.m.,
and it'll continue on with whatever happens today in the elections.
The average wait time right now
is less than five minutes across the state.
And we just think that's a tremendous trust builder.
It just really makes the process a lot of fun.
That kind of gets up where we are right now.
Based on the numbers, it looks like we could have,
you know, in that range of 1.4, 1.5 million
because we know it always kind of peaks,
you know, when people get off of work.
People are obviously engaged in the process,
but also I am just really honored today to
be joined by two of my task force members,
Mayor Shirley Franklin from Atlanta and then
Senator Saxby Chambliss,
and they've been kind of digging into the whole election process
for several years now, and they just really speak wisdom,
but also I think they are
Voices that you can trust and I just wanted
to ask if they'd like to say a few words.
Mayor? Well, thank you. Thank you very much.
The first word is for anyone who hasn't voted,
please vote. The democracy depends on you voting.
Your vote is your voice.
But I've joined former Mayor, former Governor Barnes,
And former Congressman Ferguson and former Senator Saxby Chambliss,
really to promote the integrity of voting and the voting process.
And we've worked with the Secretary of State in his office to review
the process so that every Georgian knows that their vote is safe
and that they are welcome at the polls.
So it should be a good day.
I think so.
Well, thanks, Shirley. And it is a great day today.
We were just talking coming over here.
We had about two point seven million. All right.
Taking a listen there live to elections
officials speak about Election Day and give an update.
Let's move forward. When the secretary
of state takes the stand again, we will come back to that live.
