AI GeneratedThe governor's race is projected to be a tight contest between Republican businessman Rick Jackson and Democrat, former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. With high voter turnout and significant early voting numbers, both candidates are actively campaigning on election day to secure the final remaining votes in key areas.
The governor's race. This would have been closely watched.
We've got Republican businessman Rick Jackson on one side.
On the other side, we have Democrat
and former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms' race.
Experts say this could come down to the wire.
A very, very close race. This is projected to be. So Arbaria Guzman,
is joining us live to talk a little bit more about that.
Maria, good morning to you.
I know we were able to speak
with both candidates at the polls this morning,
so I'm sure we'll be hearing about that as well.
But all in all, just a big day, Maria.
Yes, good morning. I'm in Smyrna here
and this is where Keisha Lance Bottoms started her day.
She started her day right here at this canvas launch,
really encouraging and hyping her supporters.
There are still people with her that are going to go out
and do door knocking. They're going to go ahead
and try to get those last minute voters today.
After here, she's going to go to Smyrna First Baptist Church.
That's where she's going to say hello to volunteers and also to voters.
You know, I asked her her reaction in response
to the amount of people that have shown up already to vote.
And she just says that it just shows how critical
this election season is.
So first, let's go ahead and take a listen to Keisha and also to Rick
Jackson, who started his morning in Forsyth County and coming to vote.
All right.
Well Cobb County is such an important part of our metro area
and the state as a whole.
We know that Cobb County has shown us what's possible.
We've got representatives,
leaders right here in Cobb County who've shown that we have been
able to turn the tide in Cobb,
electing Democrats up and down the ballot.
So Cobb County is a great place to be today.
The energy we felt in Cobb County has been tremendous.
So it's wonderful to kick off this launch and keep
Keep running.
And the fact that over 2 million people have voted
during early election, what does that tell you?
Well, it speaks to the momentum that Democrats,
I think, are feeling across the country.
We know that people have been turning out from all parties,
but it speaks to people's desire to have their voices heard,
reflected through their votes.
Let's take a listen
to what he has to say.
We are still waiting to hear from him.
So we'll hear from him later today as well.
But after this, again, I'm going
to go ahead over for Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Her next stop is that Smyrna First Baptist Church
is just about an eight-minute drive from here.
This is where her team is gathering right now as they go door-knocking
and trying to get that last crowd of voters, at least.
All right. Certainly a big day, a busy day ahead from them.
As we've seen already, it's, you know,
1115 and we've seen them in multiple spots already.
So watching this closely for us today,
Maria Guzman joining us live in Smyrna.
Maria, thank you so much for that. And remember Fox.
