Some area polling sites have seen long wait times today.
Others have not. Some have also seen some problems.
A voting site at the Texas Union on UT's campus had a person pull
the fire alarm twice while folks were trying to vote.
Fox 7 Austin's Cliff Thornton joining us live
in Round Rock right now with more on today's voting. Hey Cliff.
Yeah, nothing like that up here, Alec.
And at this point, a lot of us have all seen the numbers.
Roughly half of all registered voters in Williamson County,
Travis County, and also Hays County
have already voted early in this midterm election cycle.
But there is still a couple of hours left to go here on Election Day.
We visited a handful of polling locations this morning
and early afternoon in Williamson County
here at Round Rock's Jester Annex.
They had wait times of roughly 25 minutes.
That wait time has now up to around 45 minutes at last check.
We then made our way down to East Austin
to the Harris Branch neighborhood at Fire Station 41.
Wait times even less there, around 10 minutes this morning.
They're upwards of around 25 minutes at last check this evening.
Then to Gus Garcia Community Center in Northeast Austin,
just off East Rundberg Lane.
Times there were a little longer around
lunchtime, right around 50 minutes.
They were upwards, still right around that time,
about an hour's wait right now.
Voters, we're happy to see Election Day finally here.
Also happy to see an end to those TV and text campaign ads.
The line's actually moving pretty fast,
and I'm just really happy to see all these people
here.
I'm a little irritated, to put it lightly,
with all of the frickin' spam calls and messages
that I keep getting.
Oh, man, man.
What do you think?
I mean, I was only getting a couple trickling
in when I was in Denver, and then
location, as soon as I got down here,
it was ping, ping, ping, ping, ping, ping, ping.
But you know, it's nice to stay informed.
Today's an amazing day.
I think it's the day to
To the world to hear our voice,
this is the freedom of us, and we need to make changes.
I even tell people if I don't even agree with who you vote for,
just go vote anyway, you know,
because, you know, if you don't vote,
you're going to get governed by your inferiors.
Well, it's getting a little late in the game,
but you still do have time to vote.
You just have to be in line at your designated voting place by 7 p.m.
Reporting in Round Rock, Cliff Thornton, Fox 7 Austin News.
Alec.
