6 rail workers are recovering after a collision
on the tracks in Norwood. The workers

Boston 25 news reporter Ellie Morillo live for us in Norwood.
And Ellie, you spoke with the neighbor who saw this from his backyard.
Yeah, it was quite the morning for neighbor Mark French,
who says he woke up to emergency crews right outside his door.
Mark French says at first he was worried something may have happened
to a neighbor who quickly observed police
and fire crews headed towards the back of his home.
And that's when he saw the chaotic scene.
We saw the first guy come out on the stretcher.
After a minute, I noticed he was talking to the EMT.
So he seemed to be all right.
He was conscious and everything. And then the second guy,
they brought out a second guy a few minutes later.
Transit officials say two maintenance vehicles collided along
the northbound commuter rail tracks near
Norwood Depot just before 9am Monday morning.
It was disruptive in that we had to shut down both sides
of the tracks in order to perform emergency services.
All six injured rail workers are expected to be okay.
Norwood Fire Chief Tim Bailey says their rescue came with a challenge.
The challenges were how far down the tracks it
was and our access for the tracks.
We had to use Hill Street, one of the residents there,
and go down over the embankment.
So that required additional personnel
that we requested from Westwood as well.
Chief Bailey says there was no derailment and no train was involved.
MBTA Transit Police is leading the investigation.
Buses are being phased out.
For now, we are live in Norwood.
