The Chiefs are going ALL-IN...
1 Video View·Oct 31, 2026
The NFL will hate what the Chiefs are about to do,
and while conversations have started
to pick up surrounding Brian Thomas Jr. and Josh Downs,
a new rumor has dropped revealing
a blockbuster Chiefs trade involving
a name that no one is talking about.
We're going to break down this new rumor
and report and discuss what it means going forward
as things are really picking up for the Chiefs
with 11 days left until the trade deadline.
Before we get into it, a very quick reminder,
folks, to hit that subscribe button if you're
enjoying the Daily Chiefs content.
We're on the road to 3,000 subscribers and making Daily Chiefs content.
So let's dive right into it.
Now, obviously, we've been covering on the channel.
There's a lot of updates surrounding Josh Downs.
I had two videos on him yesterday and Brian Thomas Jr.
But recently, a new rumor has dropped from Mike Gnanidi,
who is Sportrac's managing editor, revealing five
not-so-crazy NFL trade deadline blockbusters on October 28th.
What's wild about this first is that one of the first trades
that he predicted was Josh Simmons to the Bears,
which he predicted before it happened just a couple days ago.
But it also involves Nico Collins to the Kansas City Chiefs
and his prediction for the Chiefs
and it has Kansas City taking on Nico for two years at $31.9 million.
Now only $1.8 million of that is 2026 money
because most of this season is gone obviously.
The other $30 million is 2027 and it is a very interesting one.
So let's start with the player.
Again, reports have picked up even this morning.
clearly stating the Chiefs are going all in for a wide receiver
and they might be going even bigger
than we initially thought here.
But let's dive into Nico Harrison and whether or not he fits.
So you can see here, last year, 71 catches,
1,100 yards and six touchdowns on 120 targets in 15
games, which marks his third straight 1,000 yard season.
That's 74.5 receiving yards per game,
which is better than 95% of qualified receivers and is to 15.7.
yards per catch is 97th percentile.
One of the most important things with Nico is that he wins
deep. In 2025, 23% of his targets were 20
or more yards downfield at 12.5 air yards on average.
Even this year, he has 24 catches,
329 yards and three touchdowns on 35 targets. And since week
four, PFF has him second in NFL in passer rating when targeted.
So let's be honest here. He is a
A very, very good wide receiver.
But he's missed a couple games this year.
He's a clear number one.
And obviously current head coach DeMeco Ryans spoke about it.
And he said when one guy gets doubled in Nico Collins,
other guys are supposed to get open.
And when we talk about what this team kind of desperately needs,
they need a WR1 that gets double teamed.
And I am a firm believer in Nico Collins, I think being number one,
at least as it pertains to this team for this season.
When we dive deeper and kind of look
at who's catching the ball, I say this every video,
but their leader right now is Travis Kelsey with 343 yards,
Tyquan Thornton with 219.
You have Xavier Worthy, Rasheed Rice,
hopefully he's going to be coming back for this week.
But when you ask people the name,
the Kansas City Chiefs number one wide receiver.
No one really has a name outside of Rasheed Rice,
who, A, I don't know if he's a wide receiver 1,
but B, and more importantly, hasn't played very much this season.
Adam Schefter reported late last night
that the Chiefs have been calling around for a receiver,
but he also said the tackles may be a bigger problem.
But keep in mind, it's very hard to trade for offensive tackles.
I'll have a video on it probably later today.
But receiver is the problem
the trade market can fix before November 10th,
and that's why this Nico Collins rumor has started to pick up.
So, who is Kansas linked to as of now?
Obviously, Josh Downs, Jerry, Judy, and Brian Thomas Jr.
have kind of been the main three,
and let's compare them to Nico Collins. Last year, Collins
averaged 74.5 yards a game, Thomas had 50.5,
Downs and Judy both had only 35.4.
When we look at yards a catch, Collins 15.7,
Thomas 14.7, and then Judy and Downs are a little
bit below that. And this year it's the same story.
Nico Collins is 20 yards better than
any of the other names the Chiefs are linked to.
And it makes a lot of sense because one of them
is a star wide receiver and the other ones
are kind of depth pieces at this point.
What that means is Collins is maybe the only one on the list
who changes what this team's
offense is, and I think genuinely has other teams kind of scared,
is if they go out and
they get a proper WR1, because we know how
good Patrick Mahomes can be with the WR1.
We saw it with Tyree Kill, multiple Super Bowl rings,
but the question ultimately will
come down to price.
Now, looking at the cap space first,
the Chiefs have $3.6 million under the cap on the planner's
cap sheet, so Collins' remaining money is not bad.
You wouldn't have to cut anyone.
But also, people act like Nico Collins is old.
He's 27 years old with two years left,
and that would be a very, very exciting player to get.
But the biggest question is Houston.
Per Spotrac, trading Collins leaves $13.1 million
of dead cap this season and $33.2 million in 2027
and saves only $8.8 million in 2027 as well.
So that is Houston paying real money to move a player
that they just paid and could be a part of their future.
But things change very quickly in the NFL.
We've already seen multiple blockbuster-type trades
this trade deadline.
And if the Texans don't think they're going
to compete, or maybe, and more importantly,
and more likely, I think, if they don't think
that they're going to get better value at
another point than right now, this could be the time to trade him.
Because when looking at his value,
ESPN's Bill Barnwell valued Nico Collins at a first-round
pick back in July, and ESPN's BJBN AIM said Houston would need
at least a first to even
consider it.
Kansas City has the picks.
They hold their own 2027 1st and 2nd, plus 2 3rds and their 2028 1st
and 2nd. And for scale, Chicago paid 2 1sts and a 4th for Simmons.
A star receiver certainly costs
less than that, but a 1st sounds about right
and I think that's what he'll end up netting.
Question is, would Brett Veach pay it?
He made an in-season trade every year from 2020 to 2024.
He went quiet last year because he knew the team wasn't good enough,
but I think it makes some sense now.
Back in April, Nick Casero said they can take it and shove it.
We're not trading Nico,
but that was back in April.
Houston is two and five now, and it's a little bit wild.
Um...
We've seen already this season,
GMs say they're not going to trade guys all the time.
Marvin Harrison literally said he's not going
to get traded, got traded a week later.
This is the NFL here, and it is clear if they are going to,
if they think their team is
going to be better by trading him, they're going to trade him.
That being said, I wouldn't say it's
super likely that Nico does get traded.
That being said, a big move is coming, right?
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported the Chiefs
are calling around for receiver help.
Adam Schefter said the exact same thing,
and they've been tied to multiple names.
Obviously, Josh Downs, Jerry Judy, Brian Thomas Jr.,
now Nico Collins, of course, Garrett Wilson
as well. All of a sudden, it seems like a trade is going to happen.
I still think the most likely
one is probably Josh Downs.
And if you didn't watch my video yesterday, check it out after
you watch this one in its entirety,
because it seems the Josh Downs price is going to be
significantly cheaper than, of course, a Nico Collins.
But, I do also want to talk, as much as I say it's unlikely
that Houston sells, there is a possibility.
They are 2-5, they've lost back-to-back games to the Colts and Cowboys,
and the second one was without Nico Collins.
Like I mentioned, Nico will be 27 going into a contract year.
Houston added the aforementioned Marvin Harrison Jr.,
they have Keyshawn Booty.
So if the season's gone, a first-round pick for a player who walks
in 2027 starts to look smart, especially in a loaded 2027 draft.
And that's the best case for a deal,
but it needs Houston to give up on the year.
And they haven't said that publicly yet.
So if Houston hangs up, what does Kansas City do instead?
There are a ton of other options,
but if the Texans continue to struggle
and they acquire another wide receiver, it could make some sense.
And again, the cheap route, it's obviously Josh Downs.
The middle route, I guess, is Jerry Jeudy.
They're all not super high, but if they want to go big,
it's Nico Collins or, of course, Garrett.
Wilson. And that's the big decision.
Pay a little more, get a better wide receiver or
try to be a little bit conservative and see what you have.
So folks, let me know down below what
you guys think about it, because for Kansas City,
I think this deal certainly makes sense
for Houston. It's a little bit trickier.
First round picks are very valuable, but would they
want to eat the dead cat money?
I think at the end of the day, it would be definitely a first
round pick. I'm not entirely sure that it makes
the most sense though. I think if they do get
them, the NFL would be, uh, the NFL would be pretty scared.
Let me know down below your thoughts on all this.
At the end of the day, I just want to see
Patrick Mahomes get a better wide receiver.
And with reports, hopefully today at a practice that
Rasheed Rice is going to be available on Sunday,
that should certainly help, but they need more
from Xavier Worthy. They need more from Rasheed Rice.
And I still think no matter what happens,
they need another wide receiver,
whether that comes in the trade, whether that comes elsewhere,
we're going to have to wait and see.
I'm still going to hold on a little bit of hope to that
Tyreek Hill dream that is probably gone at this point, but
Yeah, comment down below what your thoughts are.
I do think we're gonna hear some more about Josh Downs
over the next few hours, over the next few days.
And if we do, keep you up to date every step of the way.
Thank you guys for watching.
