The Steelers are going ALL-IN...
Nov 2, 2026
We have multiple huge trade updates as folks,
the Steelers are going all in as a new report
just dropped from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler
that said exactly what Steelers fans wanted to hear. We're
focusing in on one receiver today.
We're gonna break down exactly who that is and discuss why
the Steelers are going all in with just
a bit less than two weeks away from the trade deadline.
But before we get into all that, and there
is a lot to discuss, very quick reminder to

Now, obviously, folks, over the past few days,
there's been a lot of reports surrounding
the Steelers and a wide receiver,
but Jeremy Fowler came out today and said a couple different
things.
So while he did say that at this point,
the Jaguars have not totally committed to trading
Brian Thomas Jr., rumblings around the league
is that they will be trading him, and he directly
linked the Pittsburgh Steelers,
and this is where it gets very interesting.
Because this has been building all week.
On October 24th, Fowler said executives believe, obviously,
Jacksonville will seriously consider trading him.
And then on Wednesday,
he listed Thomas as the player most confident that he will be traded.
And on the same day, he linked Brian Thomas
Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers before the deadline.
And then today, he did it again, saying, once again, the Chiefs and
the Steelers are the most aggressive teams pursuing Brian Thomas Jr.
And the Steelers now, it seems all
but inevitable they're going to get a wide receiver.
It just depends whether it's BTJ or somebody else.
There's been some reports lately comparing
the situation of Marvin Harrison Jr.
because obviously Marvin Harrison Jr. ultimately
got traded for a second round pick,
which I think will not be the price
that the Steelers have to pay for him.
But there's clear interest here, right?
There is obvious interest.
The Steelers now for what feels like three weeks have
been reportedly interested in a wide receiver.
But all of a sudden following this morning,
Steelers, they're right at the top.
Mark Caballi even confirmed on Wednesday
that the Steelers were interested in Brian Thomas Jr.,
so it is very obvious that they're going all in on BTJ.
The question is, why would Jacksonville
even think about moving a guy this young?
Well, to figure that out, we'll have to go back to 2024,
where Thomas had 87 catches, 1,200 yards,
and 10 touchdowns as a rookie, which was third in the NFL that year,
behind just Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson.
For a 21-year-old, it's the fifth most
receiving yards in a season since 1999.
One of the guys ahead of him, Juju Smith-Schuster,
who, as we all know, was a very notable Steeler.
Now year two for BTJ, 707 yards in 14 games.
And this year, nine catches for 105 yards in six games.
So let's look at it game for game.
40-40, 8-17, then nothing.
Back-to-back weeks without a single catch, ladies and gentlemen.
It's clearly a wide receiver that's falling out
of favor of their coach and their quarterback.
He's sixth on his own team in receiving errors
behind Parker Washington, Jacoby Myers,
and even Brenton Strange.
And while the coach is still saying the right things, such as he's
going to help us make plays week after week,
I bet it, I know it, it's pretty obvious that
it's starting to get to him. And this is why
the Steelers have a golden opportunity.
Now Thomas was asked himself about the trade rumors
and he said everyone goes through adversity you just got
to keep fighting through it
but here's the catch for Pittsburgh Jacksonville is four and two
so there may be a you know decision to make surrounding the future
of him but at the end of the day we've heard over the past couple weeks
from the Colts for example that Jonathan Taylor wasn't going
to be you know traded for sure and guess what this morning we heard
that he is going to be traded so I think ultimately BTJ will be let go.
Here's what makes him the perfect target.
He's pretty cheap. He's still on his rookie deal,
making about 4 million this year and 4.7 million next year,
which is two full seasons of control.
You're not buying the guy with 105 yards, right?
You're betting on a guy who had over 1200 in his
rookie season, but you still only have to give up
a very minimal amount of assets. And that's
That's why this makes it so interesting.
There's a reason Pittsburgh would take that bet.
Let's look at who's catching the passes right now.
I sound like I broke a record, but you have DK Metcalf, 374 yards.
You have Jeremy Bernard, 254 yards.
That's one receiver doing real damage.
You have Jeremy Bernard in the slot who's been very, very effective.
But again, Roman Wilson still hurt.
Michael Pittman Jr. still hurt and is expected to miss multiple weeks.
Sorry, multiple weeks.
So it is very obvious now, and they're running
a lot of their offense to the tight ends.
Their tight ends have seven touchdowns.
The receivers only have five.
That's for Amir's lead.
All team with four.
So when your best red zone target is a tight end,
It might show a little bit about your receivers.
It's not like they're killing it in the passing game either.
This offense is ranked 30th,
or rather 20th in the league in passing yards a game.
And keep in mind, this is 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers.
If you're going to go after a wide receiver,
you not only get someone who's going to be
effective with Rodgers, but I think you actually go out
and get someone who's going to be effective
beyond that, which is why Brian Thomas Jr. makes the most sense.
But it's also why Thomas Jr. isn't the only call
that Omar Khan is making because they've
been shopping now for a while.
Let's line up what this front office has done since March
and it's not a team that has been
sitting still. In March Omar Khan traded
for Michael Pittman Jr. gave him a three-year extension.
Then since August they've already traded Broderick Jones,
Joey Porter Jr. and Caleb Johnson to Green
Bay. This is clearly not a team afraid of picking up and making calls.
So much so that on Thursday
Evan Sittery reported the Steelers have offered
the Colts day three draft compensation for Josh
Downs and then the same day Adam Schefter said
that Pittsburgh is burning up the phone lines.
Mark Cabali said the plan is to go semi-big
with Jason LaConfora expecting a move or two
before the deadline. And then this morning,
Fowler comes out saying they're not only
interested in Brian Thomas Jr.,
but they're looking around pretty heavily.
Now, what would BTJ actually cost?
Let's dive into the closest comparison. Houston
got Marvin this month for a second and a sixth,
and they got a seventh back. And around the league,
evaluators thought Houston kind of overpaid for Marvin Harrison,
saying he was only worth a fourth.
Mark Cavalli thinks that Thomas could go
for less, maybe a day three pick.
That's, of course, his guess, not a number directly from Jacksonville.
But either way, the Pittsburgh Steelers have the ability to pay it.
In 2027, they have their own first, their second, and two thirds.
And in 2028, they have two seconds.
One of them came in the Joey Porter
Jr. trade back a month ago tomorrow.
So think about that.
The pick they got for a cornerback
a month ago could turn into a 1,200-yard receiver.
Which one is it now?
Is it Josh Downs or is it Brian Thomas Jr.?
Because they're two very different players, right?
Josh Downs, he's the safe one.
He asked the Colts for a trade.
And on Friday, Shane Steichen confirmed it.
Downs said, yeah, I'm open to whatever.
Now, Downs has never had 307 yards in,
or rather he has 307 yards in seven games this year,
but he's never had a thousand yard season.
You're kind of buying the higher floor here
compared to a higher ceiling.
But again, the Kansas City Chiefs are heavily involved
in basically every player the Steelers
are, so it's going to be very interesting.
And a lot of people are coming out to TJ Ward saying
that this week he doesn't think Downs
moves the needle and that, you know,
Brian Thomas Jr. would make the most sense because
that's a guy potentially has the pedigree.
And that's the one thing Thomas did better
than almost anyone as a rookie, which was
obviously put up a superstar level season.
Which brings us to Sunday.
And you couldn't really script this.
The Colts actually play the Jacksonville Jaguars in Jacksonville.
You're going to have Downs and Thomas on the same field.
I'm sure Omar Khan will be watching that game heavily.
But let's watch Brian Thomas Jr. snaps.
Is he going to get heavily involved in the offense?
If he does, does that mean they're showcasing him for a trade?
Does it mean that they're trying to keep him?
These are all things that matter a lot.
And then on the Steelers end, you have to go out and beat the Browns.
The Browns obviously beat us back October 1st, 27-24,
but if you win, the Steelers go into the bye in first place.
You lose, Cleveland swept them on the season series,
and you are in second place.
So here's where it stands. As of right now,
we know that Brian Thomas Jr. is probably going to get traded.
We don't know exactly what the offer is yet,
folks, but there's one thing for certain.
Between Josh Downs and, of course, Brian Thomas Jr.,
Pittsburgh is very aggressive and ahead
of tomorrow's game in which the Browns haven't
won a Pittsburgh since 2003.
The trade deadline being right around the corner. It is going to
be a huge game and Omar Khan has a massive decision
to make surrounding this team. And

Comment down below. Where do you guys kind of view this?
I think for me, Brian Thomas Jr.,
they're clearly going all in on him.
Josh Downs, it's a floor raiser, but it's not a ceiling
raiser. And I think that while it would make a ton of sense
and maybe even the most sense,
given Jeremy Bernard's production this season,
it's a little bit interesting. So I want you
guys to comment down below without kind
of mortgaging their future, because neither of
these two guys would do that.
Who would you prefer, Josh Downs or Brian Thomas Jr.? And
do you think that the Steelers are going
to be able to outbid the Chiefs?
Picks are pretty similar.
It's just gonna be a matter of which GM is more aggressive
and both of them have been pretty aggressive.
Thank you guys for watching.
See you later.
