Fall festival gets underway in Prince Georges County

Now, this is one of my favorite stories of the day. This is really cool. Halloween is starting early for a Prince George's County neighborhood. Yeah, one of our proud sponsors is kicking off its annual District Heights and Price Benowitz Fall Festival. Fox 5's Jennifer Delgado joins us live from District Heights Recreation Center with all the fun. Look at what's going on behind you. You've got some furry friends as well. Yeah, that's right. I've got furry friends. I've got kids out here. And of course, we've got big hearts who are going to be putting on this event. It doesn't start until 630, but they're starting to get things together right now. The weather is spectacular, 76 degrees. And behind me, they're setting up for trunk or treat. They're going to be lining up cars out here for the kids to come out here and have a safe place to actually do some of that trick or treating. And joining me right now, we have Seth Price. And Seth Price, you're part of Price Benowitz who made this possible. Tell us what made this possible. How did you decide you guys had to be part of this? Well, look, we love giving back to the community. And at Price Benowitz, we are local. We have our roots here. So we saw, hey... Halloween can be a little dicey, and we wanted to have a safe place for kids to trick-or-treat. We partnered with the city of District Heights. We had the police chief involved. We had the mayor involved. Get everybody out here. We're going to have a petting zoo, all sorts of fun stuff, looking for people to come out and have a good time for free. Right, and we're expecting a lot of people to come out here today, too. We are. Well, we started this off a ways back with a backpack giveaway and then a backpack carnival. And our thought was, look, this community is dying for community. And our feeling was, hey, let's make it bigger and better. You have. And you brought your friend here. This is Scout. Scout's got a lot of, a little attitude. Like he's just got a lot of personality. He does. Scout is Scout during COVID. He's our COVID puppy. And we made the rules that all of our offices were dog friendly. So anybody who wants to bring their dog could bring them in. So I can bring my stroller of dogs, come over there and Angie and, and Shamari. Exactly. And your legal help with your dog. Okay. We will bring it. All right. So you can see some of the candy here. Here's the setup and we have the trunk How about you kids? Are you guys excited? Are you ready for tonight? Yes. Oh, you are. And tell me, are you a minion? Yes, I'm a minion. You're a minion. What about you? I'm a zombie cheerleader. Oh, you're doing it. Okay, can we see the outfits a little bit more? I'm the Grim Reaper. Oh, well, Grim Reaper, I want to get away from you. All right, but you're looking good. I'm not going to murder nobody. Okay, that's great. We don't want to have to cover that on Fox 5. All right, so joining me right now, we have District Heights Mayor Pamela. Pamela, is this your normal attire or, you know, are you feeling it? You know, I'm really feeling it. Call me Willow. Okay, I'll call you Willow. I'm Willow, yes. Yes. Peace and love. I love. I love it. I love the colors. And you know, how important is it to have something like this for the kids in this community? Oh, it's everything. This is a safe place for our children to come have fun, get a little bit of candy, and just enjoy the community. This is all about family and community here in District Heights. All right. Well, thank you so much, Mayor Pamela, and thank you so much, Seth and the cute kids behind me. The event starts at 6.30, goes until 9.30. Don't worry. We're going to be back here in the 5 o'clock hour. We'll see you then. Back over to you guys. All right.
