A teen sentenced for the deadly crash,
while the victim's family says justice still hasn't been served.
And an alert in Northern Virginia, police telling people to be vigilant
after a man has thousands of dollars stolen moments after using an ATM.
And counting down to Election Day,
early voting wrapping up for parts of the DMV.

the 6th, starts right now.

Halloweekend is here, and it is shaping up
to be a good one weather-wise.
Caitlin Roth is here tracking the conditions.
Good Halloween weather.
I know.
This lead-up, this Halloween Eve is amazing outside.
We've had such good weather, Sydney.
It was always the question, could it hold
through the Halloween, Halloweekend?
Halloweekend.
That's what we're calling it, Halloweekend.
And the answer is yes, it can.
So we have a great forecast for you as we head into tomorrow.
Cooler?
Yes.
It won't be as warm as today.
say appropriate for Halloween with high temperatures back
to where they should be for late October
because today was a really warm one for this time of year.
We hit 77 at Reagan, 76 at Dulles and BWI
our average high now that we're at October 30th down to 64 degrees.
Live look here at Fredericksburg
as we are about to say goodbye to daylight saving time.
Sun sets after 6 p.m. this evening but it
But it will be barely after 5
p.m. by the time we're back on with you on.
Monday evening. However, gorgeous look at not just the fall leaves,
but the sunset in Prince William County and Stafford County.
70 degrees in D.C. back home at Reagan National.
Northwest winds at 15 miles an hour.
You're seeing some cooler temperatures in the 60s to the north,
warmer temperatures in the 70s to the south.
That's because cool front came through earlier today.
That's why it's been a little breezy.
And that will usher in some chillier numbers for tomorrow morning.
So overnight tonight, clear skies.
We're back into the 40s to start off.
Off your Saturday, we will have sunshine that will give way
to a little bit of late day cloud cover.
No rain, though.
It is going to be dry for trick or treaters.
High temperatures in the low 60s
and will probably fall into the upper 50s during trick or treating.
As we look at that temperature trend into next week,
November begins, but the 70s are not going away just quite yet.
More on that coming up in your seven day.
Sydney.
I want to get you now to a Fox 5 news alert out of Montgomery County.
A car has crashed into two Wheaton townhouses.
There's a live look here at the damage left behind.
This is along Clare Ridge Road,
and we are told two families have been displaced.
Building inspectors have been called in to analyze that scene tonight.
No word yet on any injuries at this time.
Our Shamaru Stone is headed to the scene,
and he will bring you the very latest updates on Fox Local
and Fox 5 throughout the evening.
And a Maryland teen we know will spend seven years
in prison for killing a Prince George's
County mother while in a stolen car.
Tonight, her family says the punishment,
it does not go far enough.
Artisha Lewis joins us now from Upper Marlboro with the latest.
The judge focusing on the details of this case, saying Michael Collins
was not simply a 16-year-old boy going on a joyride.
Rather, at the time of the incident, he was on probation,
and the judge saying he was running from police.
That's what took place here at Prince George's County Courthouse.
Meanwhile, Collins will serve seven years behind bars,
receive credit for 435 days already served,
and upon release, be placed on five years probation.
The judge saying his reckless actions on August 26,
2025, are what led to the death of a
Of Shantae Denise Canty.
Canty was 35 years old.
Her non-verbal son was in the car at the time of the crash.
She also has a six-year-old daughter.
Today, the judge asserting this case
is different than a first-degree murder case.
Even so, Collins is accused of driving
at high speeds through a Landover intersection and crashing.
Now, mother is gone.
In court, Canty's family members fought through tears
as they described the impact her loss has had on their family.
Canty's mother also shared a victim impact statement through a family
member saying she never imagined losing her daughter like this.
The judge pointing out Collins' extensive criminal history dating back
to 2023, including robbery, armed robbery,
unauthorized vehicle use, and now this.
I really don't feel justice got served.
Because the little time that he did get my grandkids,
they're not going to get their mother back.
And I'm not going to get my daughter back.
He can always get back out and be on the street, but Shante can't.
I'm just, I don't know. It's not fair.
Part of Colin's sentence includes completing community service
for eight hours every year of probation
on August 26th in memory of Shante Canty.
That's the date of the fatal crash.
He was also sentenced to five years
with all suspended for stealing the car.
Michael Collins did read a letter out loud
at today's sentencing apologizing to the victim's family.
The victim's family do not believe that the apology was genuine.
They also say they want Collins to serve life behind bars.
A man is facing murder charges tonight
in connection with a deadly bus stop shooting
which led to an officer-involved shooting.
Police say William Chase Jr. shot and killed
Jefferson Moreno Jimenez around 5
a.m. yesterday along Minnesota Avenue. Police opened fire on
Chase minutes later after he allegedly shot towards another person.
He remains in the hospital tonight.
And an 18-year-old who was shot
and killed in Hyattsville has now been identified.
Omar Jabal was found dead
in Langley Park just before 11 a.m. yesterday.
Police say he was found dismembered by maintenance workers.
Still no word on a suspect or a motive.
This was just one of three deadly shootings
in Prince George's County yesterday alone.
And flock cameras have officially been turned off in Alexandria,
the city confirming this
shutdown today. The city manager and police chief there,
they briefed the city council about this
decision on Thursday. It comes amid growing pushback against
the automated license plate
readers over privacy concerns.
Alexandria police will keep some data that's tied to
active investigations, then disable all user access by December 1st.
All equipment will be removed by the end of the year.
And in Prince George's County,
Princeton Elementary School is set to reopen on Monday.
It's been closed now since Wednesday
because dozens of students and staff reported flu-like
and gastrointestinal symptoms.
Crews have been deep cleaning and sanitizing that building ever
since. Still no word on the exact type or source of the illness.
And a federal judge is now calling
for an investigation into whether Justice Department
attorneys misled her about President Trump's plans to close
and renovate East Potomac Golf
Course.
And that is not the only Trump project facing legal scrutiny today.
Fox 5's Shirin Rajay is live now at East Potomac with the very latest.
Shirin?
Yes, Sidney, President Trump wants to turn
this public golf course into a world-class
championship golf course.
But the big question today in federal court was not about renovations.
It was about whether
or not the DOJ was being honest with the judge about the president's
plans. There was a lot of back and forth.
It got tense at times. And the judge did
order an independent investigation now into this matter.
The judge is troubled, and rightly so,
by these misrepresentations that appear to have
been made, and has appointed a special master to look into the matter.
It's an extraordinary course of conduct,
but it's part of a larger pattern by this
administration.
So here's why the judge is raising questions.
President Trump announced
the course would close November 15th for a major overhaul.
But government attorneys initially told Judge Ana Reyes
no closure plan existed.
The DOJ has since acknowledged
the president directed officials to move forward.
So the judge has now appointed a special master to conduct an
investigation into whether or not the DOJ attorneys misled the court.
Meantime, the judge has also restricted further
tree removal after hundreds of trees were cut down.
Another federal court case today,
a separate legal challenge to President Trump's proposed
250-foot arch near the Arlington National Cemetery.
Opponents there argue Congress must approve the project.
And back here in East Potomac,
golfers and others who just love this place are upset,
saying there's more at stake than just a renovation.
It's really hard because people want to come out and enjoy this and it
feels like every week something could change or it could be taken away.
There's a lot of exclusive memberships
and exclusive places to play golf but there's not many public courses
or places where everyone can come and enjoy it
or even just sit here and enjoy the views.
And the DOJ has confirmed a closure date of November 15th.
But again, with the back and forth, this legal battle,
it's unclear whether or not they can move forward with that timeline.
Sydney.
A federal appeals court rejecting the Justice Department attempts
to set aside disputed ballots in California.
The Trump administration claimed California sent ballots.
To around 20,000 people who might not be U.S. citizens,
the DOJ calling for those to not be
counted until the citizenship can be verified.
This comes, of course, just four days before
Election Day. Early voting is still underway for parts of our area.
It wraps up tomorrow in
Virginia. D.C. voters, you have until Sunday to cast your ballots.
And if you're voting by mail,
those must be postmarked on.
Or by Election Day.
Again, that is November 3rd.
And a reminder, just because you put
a ballot in the mailbox on Election Day,
it does not guarantee it will be postmarked on that day.
And remember, we're going to have election
coverage all day for you on Tuesday.
Our special coverage begins at 7 p.m. on Fox 5 and Fox Local.
You can download that for your phone and your smart TV.
