It is an unprecedented fall doubleheader, not to mention we're
also going to roll the clocks back tomorrow night as well.
That's right. All right, let's get right to Fox 5's Teresa Priole.
She's in Greenwich Village as the NYPD begins
to step up security ahead of tomorrow's Village Halloween Parade.
Teresa.
Yeah. Can we add anything else to the list, guys?
Here in the village, the barricades are up,
the no parking signs are up,
and the organizers are expecting a weekend full of pure Halloween
magic. Of course, we are talking about
the best tradition in the village, the Village Halloween
Parade. 80,000 people are expected to march
in this year's parade here in the village tomorrow
And an untold number of people will be lining the streets.
For more than five decades,
the Village Halloween Parade has transformed the streets of the
village into a massive, moving Halloween party.
And tomorrow night, that tradition continues.
So the parade steps off at 7.
They're going to be traveling up 6th Avenue from Canal to 15th Street.
You should expect rolling closures as a result
and lots and lots of security.
This year's theme is body and soul.
It's all about bringing imagination to life.
Expect elaborate costumes, larger-than-life puppets, lots of...
music and plenty of the unexpected.
Dancing skeletons will lead the way. There's a giant
puppet performance called Out of Body featuring dreamlike characters.
The Grand Marshal this
year is going to be legendary downtown performer
and drag artist Joey Arias. But what makes
this parade so unique is that you don't have
to be a professional performer to steal the
show. Anybody with a costume can join the procession.
So it allows people to have the feeling
of what it is to be an artist, to forget time,
to have the decisions right in your own hands,
what you're going to be, what you're going to
look like, how you're going to perform.
And that teaches you something about
your ability to change the world
and make the world maybe a better place.
And because Halloween is on a Saturday, you better believe
this party is going to be rocking here in the village.
Okay, a couple more things that you probably need to know.
We mentioned that things step off at 7.
The parade is free.
If you want to be a part of it,
all you need to do is to get dressed up and come down to the village.
One other thing that you should also know about, we haven't,
Natasha and Steve, seen a bag policy from the NYPD specifically.
The only thing that they are saying outright.
No alcohol, no open container.
So that's something that you need to know.
That's the latest from the village tonight.
We will send things back to you guys in the studio.
