Russia has begun using the new Filin cruise missile. According to the occupiers themselves, its maximum speed is 800 kilometers per hour and its range is up to 1,200 kilometers. The Filin can fly at extremely low altitudes and climb to 6 kilometers.

As reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate on Telegram, the Filin is a development of the Russian research and production association Molniya. This company is part of the Tactical Missiles Corporation, one of the largest defense concerns in the Russian Federation.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the Filin is another Russian attempt to create a cheap, jet-powered, ground-launched missile. The rocket's body is reportedly made of carbon fiber and fiberglass, and individual Filin components are 3D-printed. The rocket is 3.5 meters long and has a 3-meter wingspan.

There are two versions of this missile—with a 50- and 100-kilogram warhead. The Filin is launched from a ground-based launcher using a propellant rocket booster.

The Filin's maximum speed is 800 kilometers per hour, and its flight range is up to 1,200 kilometers. The Filin's targeting is handled by a Chinese inertial navigation system, as well as a 16-channel Kometa system. The electronics are similar to those of other Russian missiles and drones. However, the Filin's share of Chinese components has increased significantly: 35 are American, while the Chinese component count is now 22. The new Filin missile is further evidence that Russia is expanding its range of low-cost weapons, increasing their speed to force Ukraine to spend expensive resources to shoot them down. Aviation expert Valeriy Romanenko told this. "The Russians are showing a tendency to expand their range of inexpensive weapons, as the Ukrainian Defense Forces—both our aviation and air defense systems—are quite effective against conventional cruise missiles," he emphasized.

According to him, the Kh-101 cruise missile, in particular, has a 450-kilogram warhead and costs over a million dollars. Therefore, the Russians plan to replace one large missile with several inexpensive "ersatz missiles," the aviation expert said. He added that this is precisely why the Russians began creating a line of "ersatz missiles": after the "Geran-5," the "Banderol" or "Dan-T" appeared, and then the "Monochrome" and "Kover" fighter drones. He noted that this line is now being expanded with the Filin missile, which has a warhead smaller than the Banderoli, but larger than the Geran-5 – we are talking about 50 or 100 kg.
