The threat of losing Dobropillia and Konstantinivka remains unless the Defense Forces are reinforced with personnel, Serhiy Grabsky, a retired colonel in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, told Radio NV .
According to him, it is important to understand that the enemy has not abandoned its strategic goal of capturing Donbass.
"I speak very cautiously about stabilization; I'm far from euphoric. Therefore, when we talk about narrowing the areas where the enemy is conducting offensive combat operations, it's perfectly natural that they've suffered enormous losses, but at the same time, the assigned mission hasn't been withdrawn or changed. They'll try to advance, even at the expense of easing pressure in other areas," the expert said. He noted that by all parameters, in accordance with all the dogmas of operational art, the enemy has a chance to break through.
"I also speak with the military, and they also say, 'We'll destroy as many of the enemy as possible, but there are too many of them. We simply don't have the physical capacity.'... So, there's only one way: we must increase our forces. If we want to prevent a breakthrough, we must increase our presence. As strange as it may sound, I understand how unpopular this is. Perhaps, right now, without the necessary numbers, the adequate number of personnel in this direction, I wouldn't talk about guaranteeing the holding of positions—whether in Kostiantynivka, on the outskirts of Chasovy Yar, where the situation is even more complex, or in Dobropillia—I wouldn't," Grabsky explained.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that settlements such as Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, Oleksieyevo-Druzhkovka, Orekhov, Novopavlivka, Novoandriivka, and Velikomykhailivka are under Ukrainian control . Prior to this, Putin announced the capture of Dobropillia.
Head of the Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, recalled that complex negotiations are currently underway to achieve sustainable peace, which is needed not only by Ukraine.
He notes that the commander of the "CENTER" group of forces, Colonel General Andrei Ivanayev, is deliberately misinforming the Russian president , "intimidating his own subordinates and setting them unrealistic goals" in order to demonstrate the capture of Ukrainian Dobropillia at any cost, since Ivanayev himself has already reported on this.
